2 The final straw

Dakota had had enough. If she was going to get punished and called a slut she was going to actually misbehave. What could they do? She got punished all the time anyway. She began destroying the living room. It was full of priceless antiques and she just began ruining everything she could grab. When her Mother tried to stop her Dakota carefully pulled back her arm and hit her hard in the eye. Her Mother tried to slap Dakotah but she had no idea how to fight so Dakota easily grabbed her arm and swung her into the wall. Now Rosalie was sobbing and trying to get away. Dakotah grabbed her head and slammed it hard into the wall. Her Mother fell to the floor curling  up in a ball screaming for help. Delilah was just standing there staring but when Dakota looked over at her Delilah panicked and raced from the room. Dakota calmly left the living room and went up to her bedroom and waited to be locked in.

 After an hour she heard a knock instead. It was her oldest brother 31 year old Xander.  He shook his head and just gestured for her to follow and she quietly followed him to her Father's office. Inside was her Father and next two oldest brothers, 29 year old Julian and Maverick who was 28. Her Father demanded, "What is the matter with you Dakotah? How dare you hit your Mother?" Dakota did not cry and with a blank face said unemotionally, "She was going to punish me for something I did not do. She had no right to punish me." Grayson looked out-raged and yelled, "Dakotah, she is your Mother which gives her the right to punish you. What is it she was punishing you for?" Still calm Dakotah answered in a monotone, "Taking a guy friend of Delilah's upstairs to a guest room. She accused me without proof." Her  Father and brothers exchanged looks and no one said anything for a full minute. Then Grayson said, "That is extremely serious Dakotah. You are a Mafia Princess and must never be alone with any male. Maverick, find out from your Mother which room and then check out the security video. Dakotah, your brother will check out this accusation but understand even if your Mother was wrong, and I certainly hope she was, it does not allow you to beat up your Mother. I was shocked at how much damage a little girl was able to do to her and am currently still waiting to receive the doctors report.  So no matter what I find out from the Doctor expect to be punished. Am I clear?" Dakotah nodded and Grayson sent Dakota back to her room. Later a servant brought her dinner and locked the door after delivering it. The next morning again a servant brought her breakfast. 

She remained locked in her room for 6 weeks until school began again. After school, at dinner time, she went down for the first time in 6 weeks to the dining room. As they begin eat her Father and brother's occasionally glanced at her. Xander finally asked, "How have you been doing Dakotah?" Dakotah answered without any emotion, "Fine, thank you. I had a good day at school today," Xander again glanced at their Father before asking, "So today was the first day of school?" She answered, "Yes Sir." Xander responded, "Dakotah I am your brother. You are not required to call me sir. Now did you apologize to our Mother for hitting her?" In a cold, insincere tone Dakota says, "I apologize for hitting you Mother." Rosalia says casually, "Apology accepted Dakotah. Let's forget the whole thing. Alright Dakotah?" Dakotah replied, "Yes Mother." Xander asked, "How long has it been since you were down here at the dining room Dakota?" Without emotion Dakota answered, "I was correctly punished Sir. Can we please forget about it like Mother requested?" Frustrated Xander said, "Dakotah I just asked you not to call me Sir. Now I am trying to get to the bottom of this. So did Mother apologize to you for what the tapes showed?" Dakota looked at him blankly saying, "The tapes do not matter Xander. I was wrong to hit Mother. Can we please just let this go before I get in any further trouble?" Alexander just nodded saying, "Yes of course Dakota. Thank you for calling Xander instead of Sir." 

No more is said of it and things go back to normal. Dakota is both relieved her Mother will not not punish her further and frustrated that she was punished for so long when tapes had obviously proved she was telling the truth. It was clear to her, from their reaction to her presence, that her Father and brothers had not even wondered before how long her punishment had been going on. That they just do not care. It was clear that Xander had not even questioned her cryptic punishment statement. Clearly they will never protect her from her Mother. In their eyes her Mother will always be correct. Dakotah decides she can not wait until she is 18 to get out of their home. Yet she knows the guards keep track of her all the time. Ken and the guards also did not question her 6 week long absence. Yet there is no way they would not notice her trying to leave. If she leaves her private school during hours it will set off alarm and after school a guard will be waiting to bring her and Delilah home. As 6th grade goes by she becomes more and more depressed and angry as she actively looks for an opportunity to escape this family that treats her like a Prisoner. 

Her 12th Birthday arrives with extended relatives and close friends attending the dreaded Birthday Party. She feels like a robot going thru the required rituals. Her Mother has warned her over and over again that she will be punished if she causes any trouble. Summer vacation has just begun so Dakotah is afraid she will be locked in her room for the whole 3 months unless she obeys. She knows telling anyone will not help her and instead will anger her Mother. The guests leave without her getting in trouble. As the Summer proceeds Dakotah watches the guards train but is bored because there is nothing new to see. The guards son's annoy her. They are not allowed to fight against her and she can see them eying her developing chest. She starts having her periods which makes it difficult to avoid becoming emotional. She knows she can not do this for 6 more years. Plus by then they will have promised her in marriage to someone and escaping will become more complicated. Legally she is allowed to leave at 18 but her family is hardly law abiding citizens. As she is walking thru the mansion one morning she hears Delilah telling someone on the phone she is busy because she is going shopping with her Mother. 

That gives her an idea. She packs up a designer backpack and wears a nice dress so her Mother can not argue she is inappropriately dressed. She has no cash. She uses credit to buy things online and her Mother has her measurements and just picks out clothes for her when she takes Delilah shopping. Her School has a uniform and lunch has an account set up. She decides she will figure out how to get money later. Right now she has to escape. Taking a deep breath she goes to garage door where her Mother and Delilah are just leaving.  Politely she asks, "May I join you for your shopping trip Mother?" Suspicious her Mother questions her motive? Dakotah is ready tho and states, "Father spoke to me today and suggested I am of an age, where as a Mafia Princess, I  must get used to doing activities such as shopping." Rosalia looks frustrated but reluctantly agrees.

 To Dakota's relief they get off the grounds without any additional guards being summoned. Normally she has her own guards that would pay more attention to her. She is hoping that her Mother and Delilah's guards focus more on them and mostly ignore her. They shop here and there until they reach a large expensive store. Waiting until Delilah is in the changing room, with various outfits to show their Mother,  Dakota whispers she has to use the restroom. Rosalia frustratedly tells her to wait until Delilah is finished. Dakota, still whispering says, "No I need to go now Mother. It is that time of the month and I have to check right now. I will take a guard and have them wait outside the door for me. Delilah emerged from the changing room as Rosalia nods and neither notice Dakotah sneak past the waiting guards. Quickly sneaking into the back room Dakotah leaves by the employee only door. Noticing car keys as she leaves she grabs them. One of her Mother's guards is  watching the back entrance but he is paying attention to people trying to get in it and is unaware Dakota was even in the car. Listening to which car unlocks Dakota quickly enters it. Guards taught her along with the others how to drive. Still she is short and she does not want to draw the attention of the watching guard. Pulling the seat all the way forward Dakota maneuvered the car out onto the quiet street.  

Once out of sight of the guard Dakota uses her phone to find a highway leading out of CA. After memorizing the rout she removes the SIM card and throws the phone out of the window. She has escaped. Now she has to hope they forget about her. Like her Father and brothers do when she is locked in her room. Her Mother will be happy she is gone and hopefully impede any rescue attempts. By the time she nears Chicago she has mastered driving. Finding a bad neighborhood she parks car with keys clearly on the dashboard and doors unlocked. She is finally free of her family.
