The unwanted daughter

Adam says, "Miss Dakotah. How about if Oli takes you to the hospital in his car. Carlos can meet you there and discuss this with your brothers?" Carlos says, "No. Drea is not driving with anyone except me. I am her guardian and we will meet her social worker at the hospital. I have no idea who you men are but I'm guessing you are not claiming to have DNA that matches hers. Especially young Oliver here. Now get out of our way before I call the cops." Carlos grabs Dakota and pushes her in front of him to the drivers door. He opens it and she slides in over to the passenger seat. By the time Carlos starts the car the guards have run to their cars and are following them. Carlos asks, "Are they your brothers?" Dakota just stays silent looking out the windshield. Carlos says, Get your seat belt on and tell me whether I need to help you escape or not kid." Putting her seatbelt on Dakotah answers, "The DNA will match Carlos. You should just drop me off and get back to Jill." Carlos sakes his head and asks, "Tell me what they did to you Drea. What did they do to cause you to run away. Not even calling them whe you were half dead in the hospital?" 

Dakotah thought about that. Carlos thought they had beaten her or sexually molested her. She knew Carlos would risk his own life to protect her from that. Yet all they did was lock her up in her room. That was not worth Carlos risking his life. Dakotah softly answered, "They did not abuse me Carlos. They just locked me in my room a lot as punishment. Mostly they just do not want me. They never have. I do not even understand why they are looking for me? They will take me back and just ignore me again. I just want to be free." They were stopped at a red light and Carlos carefully asked, "You promise he they never physically harmed you sweetheart?" Drea looked him in the eye and answered, "I promise Carlos. They never physically hurt me." Carlos said. "OK Drea. Do not admit anything. Take their DNA test and let Sydney take care of their demands. Until he tells me differently you are my responsibility and I am your legal guardian. Now tell me about this boy Oliver." Dakota tells him the truth about Oli as the drive to the Hospital. It is the nearest one but still far out of gang territory. 

At the Hospital Dakotah gets out Carlos side and stays close to him. He wraps his arm around her shoulders and pulls her close protecting her. As they enter the waiting room on the 5th floor Dakota can see all three of her brothers waiting along with Sydney. They all look at the door as she and Carlos enter. Suddenly all three of her brothers are on their feet ordering Carlos to get his dirty hands off of her. Sydney hurries in between and says, "That is enough. This is her official guardian and he has every right to hug her. You will have your DNA test but even if it is positive their is process you must complete."  Xander gestured his younger brothers to return to their seats as he made arrangements by phone. Carlos pulls her over to a chair by Sydney and pulls her into his lap. Sydney softly says, "I had not been aware she had gotten so close to you Carlos"? Carlos just as softly answers, "This is new. She has always kept her distance before now. She is scared of going back with them. Still they never physically hurt her. Is there anything we can do?" Sydney asks, "Drea will the DNA match?" Drea just nodded her head. 

At one point her brothers come over and Xander asks, "I have been informed that you were in the hospital before coming to live with Carlos. Do you remember anything before that?" Dakotah shakes her head no but refuses to say anything. Finally they go back to their seats. A rush has been put on the DNA match and as they are waiting for the results a man in a suit enters. Sydney immediately goes over to him and they talk for about ten minutes. When the man goes over to talk to her brothers Sydney comes over and says, "I am sorry Drea but there has been a rush placed on this. Unless the DNA does not match or you report abuse by your family you will have to immediately leave with them. That man is the head of my agency and he has been convinced to sign off." Dakota just nods and hugs Carlos harder. After a while the agency head and Sydney leave. About ten minutes later the man approaches and asks to talk to Dakota alone with the female lab supervisor. Dakota follows them into the lab. She is shown the positive lab results and again asked about whether she was physically abused.
