A good way to move on is to cut all ties to what you are leaving, no contact, no reminders.

Sin POV

I pulled up to my barbershop, making sure to scan the street as I got out. I have become pretty successful and nothing is wrong with giving back. That's my move today. I had gotten a call after seeing Shy that a woman in the neighborhood was in need of help. Many people that know me, know that if you genuinely need help to come to my shop and I'll do everything I can. God doesn't put us in positions to not give back.

Walking in, I see Gee and a few of the guys talking around the shop. Once they saw me, everyone began to greet me and reach for dap.

"I saw ya shawty," Gee said smiling.

"Who? Crystal?" Roq nosey ass said.

"Nah nigga, his new new shawty. Word on the street say you got the hots for this fine thing." One of my barbers, Jimmy, who was of the older generation. He kept my shop running smoothly due to his experience.

I laughed and sat down.

"What's the word, Gee?" I asked.

"She throwing a lil kickback at her crib. All the girls gone be there." He leaned over and tried to whisper.

Of course Roq Ass heard.

"What's ha name?"

"Shya, nosey nigga damn." I said, mugging him.

"Oh shit, she hang with fine ass Jasha. I was at the ball courts the other day and they pulled up on some fuck a nigga up shit. I had to clutch my piece cause a nigga was kinda shook." Roq said grabbing his gun on the side of his pants.

"What you mean?" Gee said looking skeptically.

"Just what I said nigga. They pulled up at the courts and Jasha beat some lil nigga up. Shawty had the knuckles on and all. Made my dick hard." He laughed. "Put me on. I love a crazy bitch."

"We sliding through? I ain't got shit to do. Plus, Lee mad at me but imma change that shit today." He rubbed his hands together.

"Yeah, we could. Other than that, where the woman who wanted help?" I asked.

"I'm riding too. I got her info though we can slide through there now. I'll explain the situation on the way there." Roq said motioning for me and Gee to come on with him.

Exiting the shop, we walked to Roq's Suburban. Getting in, Roq began to explain.

"Basically, the woman's name is Cheryl. She has been married to some nigga for about 2 years. She said he was a good man when they met but he recently took a turn. He been beating on her and he daughter. She suspects that he has been trying to touch her daughter so she's been sleeping with her daughter every night. He guards the door so she can't leave the apartment or anything. He told her he was going to kill them both if they left because both of them belong to him. Last night, while they were trying to sleep he kicked the door in and she fought back. She hit him with a piece of wood she hid in the room. He was dazed she said and left. That's how she was able to get to us today."

I shook my head. I hated the fact that domestic violence was in todays norms. A lot of women, even men, don't have the courage to leave shit like that. I would never. I know my grandma and aunt would kill me. I also believe in Karma, my future daughters or sons won't go through that because of me.

"Any family?" Gee asked.

"No, it's just her and her daughter. The previous husband passed."

"We're gonna have to set her up nicely. A job, house, and bank account. Call Shell and tell her to get one of the homes appropriate for the mother and child." I said.

Gee immediately got on the phone. Shell was the person who controlled all work we did with domestic violence victims.

Pulling up to an apartment building, Roq parked and got out. We followed him inside then up the stairs to apartment number 7. We could here yelling from outside the door. Roq shook his head and knocked. We each pulled out our guns and put our hands behind our backs.

The door swung open to show a dark skin man dressed in a wife beater and jeans. How ironic.

"Who the fuck is y'all?" He said.

"I'm here for Miss Cheryl. We are her nephews." I spoke up first.

"She don't got no nephews and she ain't having company." He stepped slightly outside the door and into our faces.

Roq snatched him into the apartment by his shirt. He through him on the couch and commanded that he not move. He tried to get up anyway and Gee pointed his gun directly between his eyes.

"Miss Cheryl?" I called out.

"Who's there?" A voice came from the back. I could tell she was scared to come out.

"It's okay, Miss Cheryl. It's Roquan."

She immediately came from the back. Behind her was a little girl who looked no older than 5 or 6.

"Your coming with us, it's your choice if you would like to take anything from here." I said.

"I already have some bags packed. I'm ready." She said.

"You not going any FUCKING where Cheryl. I love you and you love me." The clown had the nerve to try and reason.

I stepped to him and bent down to his level.

"This is going to be said once. You will forget you met them. I expect to you leave town. You will sign some divorce papers that I will personally bring to you. There will be no contact from this day forward. So you know I'm serious..."

I grabbed his hands and twisted them until they snapped. He screamed out in agony.

"I get it man I get it."

"Good. Now we'll be leaving." Gee said.

We helped Miss Cheryl with her bags to the awaiting car that Shell sent over.

"This car will take you to your new home. We will help you with a job, money, education, anything you need to help you move past this time." I explained to her.

She hugged Roq tight then me and Gee.

"I don't know how me and my baby could ever thank you but I want you to know how grateful I am." She cried.

"You already thanked us by reaching out for help. We are always here. You will get a phone with out numbers programmed in. See you soon."

We loaded her stuff into the car then said our goodbyes. We watched as the car drove off and her daughter waved.

"Man, helping people never gets old." Gee said.

"Especially women like that it remind me of our mothers. Wish they would have accepted that help." I said.

Gee and Roq nodded. We all came from the same situations which got us into the streets but they all had to do with our mothers.
