Chapter One

I panted hard as I ran in the cold pouring rain at night through the outskirts of the city, my whole body drenched. I wore a black hoodie with the hood over my head and jeans. I was struggling to run properly because my wings were injured and a bullet was lodged in my left side. I looked back behind me as the heroes chased me as I ran away. Fuck, fuck, fuck! I need to hide now! I don't wanna die at the hands of the heroes! I can't keep running. My feet are killing me and I'm losing blood, I thought to myself as I looked for sanctuary.

I took out my phone and dialed my cousin. I put the phone up to my ear and a girl's voice answered the phone, "Hello?"

"Toga!! Toga!! I need help!! I'm being chased by the heroes!! I can't fly and I got a bullet in my left side. I'm bleeding too much and I can't keep running!!" I said in a frantic and panicked voice as I continued to run.

"Okay. I'll send two friends of mine to help you. Stay on the phone and hide." my cousin Toga said, sounding panicked as well.

I quickly hid in a dark empty building and hid behind a corner, my back against the wall. I huffed and panted hard for breath as I slid to the floor. "I...haa...found an abandoned building. It...It's m-mostly fallen a-apart." I said in a hushed tone so the heroes wouldn't find me so quickly.

"Alright. My friends are on their way. Stay where you are." Toga said, matching my hushed voice.

I was bleeding severely from my side and I could barely move my wings. "Damn it. I'm so fucking tired. I...I can't m-move. I'm bleeding too much. I'm in so much pain..." I quietly whispered, applying pressure to my side to slow the bleeding.

"Whatever you do, don't make a noise and stay still." Toga said worriedly.

All I could say was a breathless 'okay'. I was lucky enough that I had my wallet and my phone still on my person, but was in a very unlucky situation. I winced in pain as I tried to move and hissed in pain when I did. I suddenly heard a very loud crash and I was startled, covering my mouth to keep myself quiet. Toga also went quiet when she heard the loud crash. I peeked around the corner where I was hiding and my eyes widened with fear. About three heroes had entered the building and were searching for me.

I quickly pulled back and held my breath, my heart racing and my body shaking. "There's a trail of blood on the floor and it leads to that corner." I overheard a hero say.

I quickly hung up the phone and shoved into my pocket. I could hear the three heroes' footsteps walking towards the corner I was hiding behind and I felt panicked, my mind racing with thoughts of wanting to run or not moving at all. I panicked and quickly ran away, heading to the exit, but I was pinned down to the ground by a hero. I couldn't move as the hero held me down and I screamed in pain, tears running down my cheeks as I struggled underneath them. "No more running, you filthy villain! We got you now!" the hero said as he tightened up on me, breaking my wings.

I screamed and howled in pain, yelling for help as I could barely move. All of a sudden, scorching blue flames were shot at the hero holding me down and burned them until they were nothing but a severely burnt body. I tried to get up, but I struggled so much. I stood up with a wobble and my breathing was shallow, my eyes feeling heavy. I could hear the other heroes screaming before I couldn't hear them any longer, all of them probably dead. My body was cold and was still losing blood.

My heart slowed and my breath kept running shallow. My body was so weak that all I could see before passing out was a person who walked towards me and another who caught me as I passed out. I was out cold and I lost consciousness. After a while, I slowly opened my eyes but could barely keep them open. Before I passed out again, I noticed that I was being carried by a person wearing a hoodie and I could barely see their face except for a glisten of something silver.
