It was spring while the sun was in the sky a breeze passes by as the sound of kids in the distance can be heard as Y/n stands in front of a hospital dressed in a hospital gown that he is all to familiar with taking in the vastness of the world around him.

Taking a deep breath he felt free for once as if his world had expanded, but it also felt so far away, a life that's always just out of reach, one that he would never have, one that he doesn't even know if he should have.

Y/n: *looks around deep in thought* 'The world is so much bigger than I thought...'

Y/n begins walking around the hospital with every movement, every vehicle, every bug catching his eyes, every sound attracting his ears, every smell arousing his curiosity, everything felt so foreign, everything felt so dangerous , but it was what he wanted his whole life.

As he makes his way back to the hospital passing by kids playing, families on outings, and people grieving for their lost ones

Y/n: 'I would be better off dead instead of them'

He notices a kid running across the road catching up to her dog as he hears the sound of an engine complimented by the truck barreling down the street and before he can process what's happening he finds himself running with all he's got reaching out with more energy than he has ever used in his whole life. He closes his eyes as his hand pushes something as 

"L/n Y/n welcome to the afterlife. Unfortunately, you've died. It might've been short, but your life's now over." 

Y/n opens his eyes.

*Y/n Pov*

You am sitting on a chair resting on a checkered floor, across from you sits a woman on her own chair with a table holding a book next to her.

Y/n: "..."

???: "What's this? Stunned by the my beauty? Well that's not surprising, you are in the presence of the great goddess Aqua after all" *she says while flipping her hair*

After a while of processing Aqua's initial comment you speak.

Y/n: "I-I'm dead?"

Aqua: "Yes, yes you are"

Y/n: "I-I see... ummm I-I apologize for a-asking b-but is the girl o-ok?"

Aqua: "Don't worry she is she lives and her dog is fine as well thanks to you"

Y/n: "T-thank goodness. At least I was able to do something with my worthless life." *he mumbles the last part*

Aqua: "Now then I shall present you two options"

She says clasping her hands together.

Aqua: "The first option would be reincarnating with no memory and beginning a new life; the other option would be staying in a place of like heaven."

Y/n: "H-heaven" 'I-I can go there?'

Aqua: "Yes but I wouldn't recommend it since it's more like a retirement home where you bask in the sun with your predecessors and chat. Forever"

Y/n: "I-I see" 'An eternity of torture disguised as heaven or living a new life where someone like me will inevitably end up being a waste of space once again.' *mumbles* "This must be gods retribution for my sinful existence (T-T)"

Aqua: "Uhh w-well luckily for you I can present a 3rd option!"

You look up

Aqua: "Do you like games?"

Y/n: "Well I guess..."

Aqua: " Then I have good news for you! You can go to another world where magic and monsters exist with a gift that you will use to defeat the Demon King!"

Y/n: "B-but aren't there l-like m-many problems with that choice. I-I mean they should s-speak a different language a-and m-my body is really weak a-and-"

Aqua: "Worry not! You will automatically know the worlds language" *mumbles* "As a side effect, your brain might be wiped blank if you're unlucky..." "and you will be given a new copy of you body that the exact same but you won't be sick anymore."

Not hearing the mind wipe part you think.

Y/n: 'I can live a healthy life and I will be given a purpose with my meaningless life? T-that sounds great... a little too great. But I should not look my first  gift horse in it's mouth r-right?'

Y/n: "O-okay I-I will pick o-option three"

Aqua: "Good choice now" *holds out the book besides her* "pick which gift you would like"

Y/n: "O-okay" *takes the book*

You look through the book seeing a variety of gifts but none really caught your eyes.

Y/n: *mumbles* "'Unnatural Strength,' 'Super Magic,' 'Holy Sword Arondight,' 'Demon Sword Murasame,'"

Until you see one page with the title 'superb creation' you read through it finding out that it's based around creativity one of the only things you have.

Y/n: "O-okay I-I picked o-out my gift."

Aqua: "Alright" 

A blue magic circle appeared under your feet as you start to float up.

Aqua: "L/n Y/n, you'll be heading to another world now and will become one of the hero candidates to defeat the Demon King. You'll receive a gift from the gods the moment you defeat the Demon King."

Y/n: "... Gift?"

Aqua: "That's right, a gift befitting the savior of the world... You'll be granted a wish; it may be anything you want."

Y/n: "R-really"

Aqua: "Yes now I wish you the best Young Miss"

Wait... MISS!?

It all went by so fast that you forgot to take in what the Goddess looked like but one thing you did take in for sure was the important mistake at the end.
You really should have looked the gift horse in the mouth...
