The sun rose into a brand-new day as I slowly woke up on the in floor. Even though the sky is clear and blue, my room was gloomy and dark. I get up from my spot and make my way to my vanity. My eyes are bloodshot red from crying all night and my cheeks are stained with tears. My right cheek is throbbing. Another tear makes its way down my bruised cheek as I look at my reflection.

I don't even know who that is. The door opens and shuts softly. I look through the mirror to find Samantha entering my room with a slice of toast and water on the tray.

"You," I clench my jaw and stomp my way over to her. "You ruined me." I grab the neckline of her dress and push her harshly against the wall that I made frames move. "Why did you do this to me? What did I do to deserve this?" I hold in my tears, but my voice gets louder.

"I'm sorry," She cries, "I didn't mean for your father to do most of that stuff. I just wanted him to be mad enough to stop the wedding." I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion until it clicked, she's in love with my brother, and the only way to stop James from getting married to Mary was to make my dad mad enough to stop the wedding.

"That's a stupid plan," I scoff, "My father would never stop the wedding. It would have just helped the family's reputation if the secret was revealed to the town."

"I'm sorry! I'm deeply sorry, Willow!" She cries even more. I held her by the throat, squeezing all the anger out of me. "Don't! You're only sorry because you're scared. You're a fool. An idiot!" I lean in closer. "You will never be truly sorry. You're only sorry that your idiotic plan didn't work out! You are nothing. You are worthless." I say through gritted teeth. Tears start to form in my eyes until I realize what I was doing. I quickly let go and Samantha inhaled deeply.

I gasped in shock; I can't believe I've done that. Even though I'm not proud of my actions, I don't apologize. She deserved that. Samantha runs out of the room, slamming the door behind her as I stay seated on the floor. My mind runs through what just happened. I don't feel terrible about doing it; I'm stunned that I did that. I could've killed her and yet, I feel nothing. I'm completely numb.

I hear laughter coming from outside, which makes me stand up and make my way over to my window which has a view of the garden. People are already celebrating the wedding. The ceremony was supposed to take place at 12:30 p.m. and the party was to start at 3. I assume my parents didn't want me to be there to celebrate my brother's big day. I spotted Abagail talking to some strangers. She looked more beautiful than ever. Her hair was done in a braid that was twisted into a bun. Her make-up didn't cake her face.

I can't be here anymore. I think. "I've got to leave." I grab the blue crystal necklace from my drawer, holding it in my fist tightly as I step six feet away from my bedroom door. I take a deep breath in, glaring at the door as if it would weaken it, then I run.

Thud!

Thud!

Thud!

I ran into my door in an attempt to break it down. I screamed with all the strength I had left and finally knocked it down. However, I fell along with the door, making a loud booming sound. I look up to find Samantha standing there in shock. I get up, grab the necklace that I dropped from falling, and pat myself down, "Tell a word to another soul, Samantha, and I will tear your throat out. Got that?" She gulps, nods, and makes room for me to go down the hall and the stairs. I decided to go from the back since people would recognize a person dressed as if they've been through hell and back amongst people who look like they were dressed up by angels. I spotted Abagail drinking tea with her cousins. I can't approach her or else someone might notice me. I looked around and found a server standing right beside me.

"Excuse me," I grab her attention, "May you please go to the girl drinking tea in the pink dress and tell her that Willow said to 'Meet me at the tree'? Thanks!" I ran behind a bush so I wouldn't get caught. The server makes her way toward Abagail and whispers the message in her ear. Abagail looks around to look for me until she spots me peeking from behind the bush. I wave to her and make my way towards the north hill. The hill has two ways to get there. The way I'm going is through the woods that reach the meadows where the tree is sitting on a hill. Or the way Abagail is going, which is up south where it's just short grass until it meets the meadows.

Both ways are about a twenty-five-minute walk. I make my way towards the hill and pant for breath. I almost make it to the top of the hill when I sit down to take a breather. After a few minutes, I hear footsteps approaching. I look up to see Abagail with a bag on her hip. I smile at her presence and get up. We instantly ran toward each other, and I pushed my lips against hers. It's like our lips were molded for each other. It feels like the entire world is spinning. Fireworks explode in my heart. Joy, happiness, and love fill every inch of my body. Though I didn't want it to end, I gently pulled away and connected our foreheads. My hands held her warm cheeks and hers held mine. We breathed in each other's presence and looked each other in the eyes.

"Is it time?" She asks.

"My father found out about us. It is time for us to go."

"Wherever you go, I go." She promises. A tear slips from both of our eyes. It could be out of sadness or happiness, I don't know. But what I do know is that we are finally free.

"Abagail, I want you to have this." I place the necklace in her hand. Abagail lifts the necklace towards her so she can get a better look at it. "Willow, you shouldn't have." Abagail looks up to look me in the eyes. A big smile was painted on her face. "Can you put it on me?" Abagail hands me the necklace and turns around. I gently placed the necklace around her neck and clasped it. I followed the patterns on the back of her dress when I finally found the courage to speak.

"Listen, Abagail, I've been meaning to tell you this for a long time." She turns around to face me. I hold her soft hands. "I wrote this note, but my father destroyed it, but it doesn't matter. Abagail-"

"Willow!" A booming voice yells out in the distance cuts me off. I look to see my father coming towards us with Mr. Davis beside him and some of Abigail's uncles. A loud boom echoes through the meadow. I look back at Abagail who has pure fear written across her face.

"Willow?" She called out, but all I could think about was how the right side of my torso ached. A sharp pain spread throughout my whole body. "Willow?" Abagail repeats herself. I tried to find the strength to stay up, but my knees failed me. "Willow! No, no, no, no!" Abagail cries. She catches me before I fall and gently lays me down in her arms. "Please don't go! We're supposed to go together, remember? We'll find a house in the middle of the woods, or we'll make one! Just please don't leave me." She touches her forehead with mine. I tried to form words but all that came out was warm, crimson liquid. My vision begins to fade in and out. My breaths become short. I can only hear Abagail's voice mumbling please repetitively. I look past her shoulder and see my brother, Thomas, over her shoulders. He looked disappointed but also some sorrow was in his eyes. Was it for me? I don't know. What I do know is that I never expected my own brother to betray me like this.

"Let go of me, you idiots!" I feel someone pull Abagail away from me. Abagail's screams and attempts to fight her way to me are the only thing I hear. The scent of grass, the fallen cherries from the cherry tree and blood fill my nose.

"That's your daughter!" She screamed at my father. He slowly looks over his shoulder and glances at me. "She's not my daughter anymore." With that, he walks away. Mr. Davis drops his gun and makes his way toward me, "How dare you manipulate and abuse my daughter." He spits right beside my face. I can't move anymore, but all that I see is Abagail trying to break herself out of her uncles' grips. I can feel myself fade away as everybody walks away. I can only see Abagail and her tear-stained cheeks.

Before I left, I whispered, "I love you,"
