During the summer, Erica started dating Kyle, Kylie's twin brother.
She had no issues with it, just laughed her ass off and made both of them promise not to hurt each other.
Stacy hated it, she hated that Erica could just forget that night like it never happened.
She can't stop thinking about it, about that kiss.
Her sexuality had been in question long before that night, but it had seemed to confirm her bisexuality as well as her crush on Erica.
Now, weeks after that night, Stacy was forced to watch as she moved on with someone else.
But then again, there wasn't really anything to move on from for Erica.
That's what Stacy thought.
She spent a summer wondering what could have been.
....
When Kyle had first approached Erica with the idea, she nearly laughed right in his face and told him to fuck off.
"I know you're in love with Stacy," he had said.
That made her freeze. "How the hell did you figure that out?"
"I didn't, I just needed you to confirm it."
"....I'm going to kill you."
"That's fair, but can you hear me out first?"
A fake relationship to help both move on from unrequited love.
Erica had a boyfriend for the summer that she didn't even like in that way.
But she had to get over Stacy, so that was that.
And it was true, she had fallen in love with her.
That's what made it harder to move on: her feelings growing into something more.
Erica regretted not confessing, she wishes she had said something.
But then she thought about what would have been ruined.
A 17 year friendship and probably the friend group with it.
She couldn't do that, she could keep her feelings in though.
No matter how much it hurts.
...
Stacy thinks it's the worst summer ever.
And she does think that's dumb, to think this summer is the worst one ever because a girl she kissed once is in a relationship.
Kylie, being her best friend, notices she's down.
"Something's been up with you ever since that party."
"...I don't know what you're talking about."
Obviously, she wasn't buying it.
"Stace, something happened and it's been making you act weird since. So are you gonna tell me or am I gonna have to nag the shit out of you?"
Stacy clearly had no other choice.
"I kissed Erica that night in a 7 Minutes Of Heaven game and I fell in love with her but I never told her and now she's dating Kyle."
And Kylie didn't say anything for a bit, leading Stacy to think her worst nightmares would come true.
"...Erica? Really? Of all the girls in town, it had to be her. I can't believe you Stace, honestly."
But the only thing Kylie judged was her taste in women.
"I can't stop thinking about that night...what the hell am I supposed to do now?" Stacy asked.
Kylie shrugged. "You should tell her, Stace. Just...get it out of your system and move on, I guess."
"Why, because she has?"
"Come on, I don't mean it like that. You don't need to confess if you don't want to."
...
On the last day of summer, Erica got something very unexpected.
"So I know that kiss didn't mean anything to you, but it did to me. I fell in love with you and I can't stop thinking about that night, but it's clear you don't feel the same."
Well, shit.
Erica really screwed up here, didn't she?
So, what did she do next?
In the last few hours of the summer, she just got way too drunk and sent Stacy a text.
A text that confessed her true feelings about that night.
It was a bad idea to drink her feelings and problems away, what a surprise.
...
Stacy had received the best and worst text ever.
If Erica really felt the same, then why did she just seemingly move on to someone else?
She needed to talk to her.
