I woke up the next morning, still tired. I had a splitting headache, not from the alcohol, from how late I was out last night. I sat up in bed, rubbing my eyes. I decided to go downstairs and make some coffee. As I walked down the stairs I checked the time, it was almost 12:30 pm. I groaned, I never slept in this late. I walked down stairs to see my mother waiting for me. "Good morning" I greeted her, with my groggy sounding voice."You were out late last night." She spoke. She didn't sound mad, which I was half expecting her to be. "Me and Mary made some new friends." I said. I remembered the night so vividly, me and Roger's conversation's, the strange new man who approached us named Freddie. How angelic his voice was. It was all so fresh in my mind.

After talking with my mother for a bit, I rushed to the kitchen to make some coffee. I made my favorite blueberry muffin coffee, it was sweet. I hated black coffee, it was so bland and boring. It made me want to throw up. As I was making my coffee the telephone started ringing. I quickly snatched the phone from the wall, putting it up to my ear. "Hello?" I said. "Hello Jenny, its Mary. I want you to come by the store." She told me. It wasn't unusual for me to come by to Mary's work. Her boss was very cool with her bringing friends around while she was working, especially on not so busy days. "Mary I haven't even made my coffee yet, let me drink it and I'll be over." I said, we told each other goodbye and hung up the phone. I drank my coffee as fast as I could and ran upstairs to get dressed.

I drove my mother's car to Mary's work. I was wearing yellow pants paired with a Led Zeppelin t-shirt. I walked in the store to see a lady with platinum blonde hair at the front desk. I knew her as Mary's boss. "Hi, Where's Mary?" I asked the woman only known as sarah. Sarah gave me a slight smile and pointed to the back, which I headed toward. As I reached the back I recognized the man we met last night. It was Freddie. He had makeup on and honestly it looked fantastic on him. He really made it work. "Jenny!!" Mary greeted me, pulling me into a hug. I smiled at her and gave Freddie a slight wave. "You remember Fred, right?" she said. "Yes, I remember. How could I forget?' I chuckled a bit. He smiled at me without teeth. I figured he was trying to hide his teeth. Mary was standing very close to him, it was very clear she liked him. "Look at the love birds." I commented. Mary glared at me and Freddie just awkwardly laughed.

We were talking for about an hour until we heard the door open. To my surprise, it was Brian and Roger. "Would you look at who it is?" Roger said, greeting us three. I waved at him. "How did you find us?" Mary asked, looking very confused. "Well I called Jenny's house and her mom answered. She told me you guys would be here." Roger stated. I thought it was odd they'd go all this way to find us. "I was hoping you guys would help us find Freddie. And it seems you have." Roger added. Freddie gave a confident bow, I smiled at that.

"So you finally come to your senses, ready to make me part of the band?" Freddie said. I was envious of his confidence. "I suppose so. We need help finding a bass player, we are interviewing this guy to be our bass player." Brian said, turning to Freddie. "You guys can come if you want." Brian added. I thought about it for a moment and decided to go, I had nothing else to do. "I'll go, I don't know about Mary though." I said as I turned to Mary, she looked at the time. "I guess I'll go, I got off 30 minutes ago." She said, I smiled at her, I was quite excited to go. I haven't really got out much and I had a lot of fun last night.

We followed Brian and Roger to their van. Freddie, Mary, and I all sat in the back with Mary and Freddie sitting beside each other and me to the far left. "Where are we going?" I asked, no one seemed to pay attention to my question but Roger. "The Flat me and Brian share. We have a guy coming over to try out for bass." he said, giving me a smile, His teeth were perfectly white, which made sense for a dental student.

We drove the rest of the way in mostly silence, with Mary and Freddie giggling constantly. Now that I've gotten to know Freddie better he really did seem like the perfect match for her. I was glad they were hitting it off so well. Mary deserved someone good in her life. We reached their flat and I got out of the car first, Mary and Freddie following. Roger and Brian also got out, Brain with a set of keys in his hand. He found the right key, putting it into the keyhole and twisting it.

The flat was huge, with bright lights almost blinding me when Brian turned them on. I walked in slowly, looking around at everything. "Make yourselves at home" Roger said, signaling for me to sit by him. I walked over the black velvet couch and sat close to Roger. "So Jenny, how are you today?" he asked with a smile still on his face. I returned the smile, "I'm doing good, thank you for asking." He looked as if he was about to say something else, and then there was a knock on the door. Brian went to answer it. A man with shoulder length brown hair walked in with a bass guitar in his hands. "Hey guys, this is John. That's Roger, our drummer, and our singer, Freddie." Brian introduced the boys to each other. "And that's Mary and Jenny, our new friends." He pointed to us, I waved at him. Roger signaled him to sit down in a chair that sat in front of the couch. Roger moved closer to me and laid his hand out as if he wanted me to hold it. Mary must have noticed this because she giggled looking at me and then back at Roger. There was no way he liked me. People like him didn't go for girls like me. I moved my hand closer to his till our hands were touching. "So John, how long have you been playing bass?" Roger asked him. All of the sudden he put his hand in mine, he did it so nonchalantly. It felt so natural but it still made me turn red in the face. No one seemed to notice him do this, except for Mary who was smiling at me. "I've been playing since I was 14." John said.

The interview went very well and it seemed like John was an amazing fit. He played well, and got along with the boys very well. By the end of the night it seemed they had found their new bass player. "How would you feel about being Smile's new bass player?" Brian finally said after Roger and Brian had been interviewing him for over an hour. "I'd love to!" John replied, smiling. "We must stop calling ourselves that, Smile is not it." Freddie said, rolling his eyes. "What'd you have in mind Fred?" Mary cuddled up to him. Freddie thought for a moment. "What about Queen?" Freddie finally spoke. "I love it!" Roger said, we all agreed on that. So from that Moment they would be known as queen
