"Your cousin has a wild imagination and even wilder kids." Harper said as we sat down on the couch. I nodded, relaxing into the couch.
"Oh my god it feels so good to have silence." I said, and no sooner did I say that, did someone knock on the door and Honey started barking. I sighed in annoyance.
"I'll get it. Honey stop barking." The dog went quiet as Harper answered the door. "Hi can I help you officer?" Officer? I stood up, going over.
"Yes ma'am, may I come in?"
"Yeah of course." She let him in.
"There was a burglary down the street, did you happen to see anything?"
"No sir, we've been at my parents place since 9:30 this morning. We just got home 30 minutes ago. In fact we just got sat on the couch to unwind." Honey growled. "Honey Bear!" I scolded. She looked at me. "He's friendly." She whimpered and ran to the back yard.
"Sorry about her. She's a rescue and she has issues with male officers and we think dog catchers." Harper said and he nodded.
"Could I get your parents address to check that?" I nodded, giving it to him. "Now someone said they say your lights were going on and off while you say you were gone." Harper nodded.
"Yeah I set up our Alexa to do automatic lights. They go on and off at random to make it seem like we're doing it." Harper said. He nodded.
"Could you show me? That sounds cool."
"Yeah, here. Alexa, we're leaving the house." I said.
"Okay. I'll be sure to keep the lights on." The device responded. "They try to go from room to room so it seems like we're walking through the house." The light in the kitchen went off. "See?" The officer nodded.
"Alexa, we're home." She said.
"Okay, I'll change the lights back." The light in the kitchen came on. "Welcome home. No abnormal movement detected while you were away."
"Pretty good system." He commented. I nodded. "Well, I will be sure to check with your parents."
"Okay. Who's house was broken into?"
"The Harrison's." He said.
"I'll have to go see her." Harper said and I nodded. "Honey!" The dog walked in, wary of the officer still. He kneeled down.
"Honey, I'm nice." He said, pulling a dog treat out of his pocket. She ran over, taking the food.
"She enjoys bribery." I said and he laughed.
"You two have a nice night." He said as he walked out and got in his patrol car. K-9 unit.
"Well that explains the dog treats." I said and she nodded as he he pulled away. I called my mom and explained, before hanging up and kissing Harper. "Let's practice."
"Practice what?" I smirked.
"Making babies." I said and she blushed beet red. I picked her up and carried her to the bedroom. The next few months went by in a blur. She was walking over in a huff. "What's wrong?"
"I can't find my sweater. And it's fucking cold outside. And snowy."
"Okay?" I was very confused. She wasn't going anywhere today. So what was this about?
"Didn't you say her doggy door is malfunctioning and it isn't reading her fob to unlock because of the cold? I'm not opening that back door without layers." I nodded. That would be why.
"I'll let the dog out, but I will help you find said sweater." Soon the dog had done her business and we had located the sweater in question.
"I have a question for you." I said. She looked at me. "Would you like to go and get your nails done, and a massage?"
"What, really?!" I nodded. "Let me get ready." She ran off and I smiled. Step one, done. She returned in a flowy blue dress and her brown knee high boots. Once at the spa, she smiled as she talked with the nail lady. Once she was done, she waved me over and showed me.
