When Alvina entered the apartment she immediately ran towards the restroom. Shutting the door behind her quickly, she walked to the sink and looked up into the mirror at herself. What had she done? Was that dumb essay his last straw with her? Her mind ran rabid with different scenarios. Why her, why now? Alvina shook her head to try and silence the thoughts in her head, bending over the sink she turned the faucet to cold and cupped some water in her hands and splashed it upon her face. As she grabbed a rag from the rack that was beside the sink, she heard the sound of the front door to their apartment open. Garret was finally home, "ALVINAA, YOU HOME BABE!?" his voice echoed through their apartment. A cold shiver ran down Alvina's spine, "Shit" she thought to herself. "YEAH I'M IN HERE ONE SEC" She shouted back, taking a deep breath before opening the door. "What's up lovey?" She said as she exited the bathroom, Garret stared at her with a blank expression and shrugged moving his eyebrows up and down with his shoulders. "Something wrong?" Alvina spoke once again. Garret turned his back toward her heading into the kitchen, letting out a big breath of air. "Not really" he finally replied back to her. She nearly let out a sigh of relief as Garret opened the fridge, she began to try and start conversation with him but before she even she even could even get a word out, he quickly interjected "But I got this weird critique from my teacher on that essay today when she handed back to me". She froze, trying to speak but she couldn't think of what to say, "Oh" was the only word she managed to get out. Closing the fridge and turning towards Alvina Garret copied her "Oh? Care to tell me something? " he tilted his head slightly, looking her in her eyes. Still not knowing what to say she turns her head away from him, looking out the open window. "Alvina." he called out, she doesn't look back. "Alvina." He says her name once again, this time louder. She whipped her head forward, looking right at him. There was a very noticeable height difference between them, Alvina being 5'5 and Garret being 6'1. She manages to muster up the courage to finally call him out for once "You NEVER do your own work, for once I'd love to relax without feeling the responsibly of your stupid school work, It's been like this NON-STOP since last year since we lost the baby. I'm not in school anymore! I dropped out for a reason, this isn't something that I should be doing!" Garret was now the silent one, only taking a few steps forward before raising his hand *SMACK* the sound of his and hitting her cheek rang through the apartment, Alvina's head now facing the window once again. She looked up and the sun beamed on her face, a stream of tears running down her face glisten in the light her body shaking with rage. "He did NOT just do that to me" she thinks to herself. Her brain reminding her of what she saw earlier in the parking garage of their apartment complex, her body gained the strength to force her fist up toward him, trying to land a punch on his chest he grabbed her arm stopping her. "Let GO" she screamed in a fit of anger pulling her arm out of his hand. "GET AWAY FROM ME. I'm leaving." Alvina swiftly turning around she begins running toward their bedroom, swinging open the door letting it hit the wall behind it. She grabs her suit case from out of the closet and starts throwing her clothes in the bag. Garret enters through the door way, "YOU CANT LEAVE ME. YOU DONT THINK IVE BEEN THROUGH HELL TOO. I LOST THE KID TOO ALVINA". She turns to look at him with her eyes full of tears, "then how could you go on acting like it never happened putting all your weight and worries on? god garret do you EVER think about anyone but yourself" she stares at him waiting for a reply...... Nothing. She shook her head and turns back toward her suitcase, closing it and clicking it shut. "Bye Garret" She takes her purse off the nightstand and grabs the suitcase, rushing past Garret to leave their apartment. She makes it out the door shutting and locking it behind her to slow him down incase he chose to follow, she skips the elevator and runs down the stairs leading right to the parking garage.  Running to her car and hopping inside. She sticks the key into ignition and lets out a big breath, finally processing what had just happened.

Alvina wasn't sure where to go, she had no family nearby. Suddenly a name popped in her head, Sophie, one of her best friends from college who lived a few city's over in Brooklyn, She had no where else to go, "Might as well" she said to herself pulling up to a pay phone to make a quick call to her. She punched in the numbers and waited. "*Ringggg, Ringggg* H-hello? This is Sophie!" a friendly voice said from the other end, a wave of relief shot through her body and immediately a smile started forming on her face. "Sophie!" she replied "Its Alvina! How have you been?". "Oh my goodness Alvina! I am doing just great, even better now that you've called. It's good to finally hear your voice again, how are you? How's Garret?" Sophie replied in a peppy tone. "About that actually....." Alvina stopping to take a deep breath before asking, "Can I come see you for a couple days?" she then finished in a desperate tone. "All the way down here in Brooklyn?? Of course" Sophie paused, "Why what's going on?". "Thank you so much, I'll explain everything when I get there I promise, I just don't feel like explaining it on the phone" Alvina looked around for a second checking for any signs of Garret. "Of course, I'll see you when you get here!" Sophie said from the other end of the phone. "I'm looking forward to it!" Alvina replied before hanging up the phone, jumping back in her car. She looked in her rear view mirror, putting her car in drive and easing back onto the road. "Brooklyn here I come" she said to herself, smiling at the thought of her finally being able to relax.
