"good morning, darling. how are you this morning?"
"i'm good," hye-joon smiled at her.
hana nodded with a smile before sitting in her usual seat.
"breakfast's served," johnny placed three plates on the table, and shin-hye came in with another two plates. cho-reum brought a jug of fresh orange juice to the table.
"ooh, fancy breakfast, huh?" hana chuckled as she saw the food served.
"have you ever eat simple breakfast if it's with me?" johnny asked before sitting on the chair.
"where's dong-won?" hye-joon asked shin-hye.
"upstairs still, i think," shin-hye replied.
"i'm here!" dong-won said as they heard running steps down the stairs.
the family had breakfast together that morning. after hye-joon's accident and stroke, there were quite some changes in the family.
johnny slowly merges into the family, moving into the house after telling the children that he wants to be the family's protector. johnny told the kids that he never would be their real father and he won't expect the kids to treat him like their father.
he's just a stepfather to them and nothing else. he doesn't know the kids like how hana knows the kid. that's why moving into the house slowly might help him more.
the kids loved the idea of johnny moving into the house.
johnny was on hiatus while the other nct members were. some are in the military. some doing solo works. johnny decided to rest for the moment. just rest.
that's why during this time, he's always at home. always taking care of the kids while hana is out working. bringing hye-joon to physiotherapy, it's johnny. taking care of the kids at home, it's johnny most of the time.
both of hana's parents will be retiring soon, and they are thinking of staying at home most of the time. they also thought of opening a restaurant near hana's agency building.
hana didn't say no. it was a good idea.
hye-joon, at the same time, had a minor stroke, fortunately. the minor stroke was his legs. he can't move his legs at all. both his legs. He can't feel anything from his hip down.
but after about three months of physiotherapy, he's getting better. he can feel the warmth. he can feel touch. but he doesn't have the strength to control his muscle yet. so, he can't move his legs yet. it takes time. they need to be patient.
but still, hye-joon wanted to take his national exam this year. in october. there are still a total of four months left. hana decided to hire tutors to come to the house to teach hye-joon.
