ANGGE

I purposely woke up and got ready early today because I'm so excited to work. It's going to be my first ever job, so it can't be helped. I'm starting to feel like I'm just like everyone and it makes me so happy. I know it won't last long but at least I'm going to experience it while I'm here.

But before that, I'll go check on Gayle first. I wonder if she already saw our picture today. Honestly, I still don't know where she put that thing but I'm guessing it's somewhere in her bedroom, maybe on her bedside table. Nah, maybe I'm just assuming but whatever it is, it doesn't matter as long as she recognizes me. So, I'm on my way to her house and I can already see her from her window, dancing.

She's so adorable, I couldn't help but smile. I watched her a few minutes more until I decided to finally go and knock on her door. It took her a couple of minutes to answer the door and it was probably because of the music that she wasn't able to hear the knocks easily.

"Hello Gayle, good morning. Do I have to introduce myself today?" I asked because I don't know, maybe she hasn't recognized me yet. Then she giggled and said, "No silly, I know you Angelica Jhane Gegante, or should I say, Angge." I was utterly surprised at how she sounded so natural as if she didn't forget about me.

"What's that reaction?" She said after letting out a soft chuckle. "Well, that was amazing. Y-you sound like you have never forgotten about me since day one," I said giddily.

"Really?" She asked and I nodded enthusiastically. "Yes! You're doing a great job!" I said while raising two thumbs up. I don't know if my eyes are just playing with me but I thought I saw her blush before looking away.

"Y-you're cute," she mumbled but I was able to hear it so well. For some reason, my heart seems to bounce but not in a bad or painful way. This is not the first time but so far, this only happens when I'm with her. I wonder what this means? Is it bad for my heart? Am I going to die? But it isn't painful like chest pains.

Gayle probably noticed that I became silent so she suddenly asked, "Angge, are you okay? Why are you holding your chest?" Hey, I didn't even notice I was doing that.

"Oh, I'm fine. I just suddenly feel something in my heart but I can't explain what it is," I said. She looked at me worriedly and said, "Does it hurt? Does it feel comfortable? Are you sure you're okay?"

I shook my head before replying, "It doesn't hurt and I don't seem to feel uncomfortable.  It's nothing, I guess." Then I shrugged my shoulders.

"Angge uh, do like to join me for breakfast? I mean if you like," she said while playing with the strands of her hair.

"As much as I want to, I can't. I have to go to work today," I pouted. Being invited by Gayle to eat breakfast together is such an honor. However, I have to decline it for now because I don't want to keep sister Emma waiting. It's my first day, after all, I have to make a good impression.

She smiled. Then she asked, "You have a job? Where?" I nodded before I replied, saying, "The store nearby hired me as their cashier. Today is actually my first day and it is my first ever job. Wish me luck, please." Her eyes widened. Then she smiled before saying, "Really? That's great. Good luck with your first day."

"Thank you," I replied with a big smile on my face.

"You should come over later and we'll celebrate your first job." I nodded happily. That would be awesome.

"Sure, I'd love that. You'll also teach me how to cook remember?" I raised my brows playfully. "I—actually don't remember but if I said that, then sure," she said while shrugging her shoulders. I chuckled before saying, "Oh, I'm sorry. You're just so natural to the point that I forgot that you have short-term memory loss. Uh, would you like to tell me how you're doing it? I mean, you knowing me and not feeling uncomfortable although—you know, it's basically like meeting me the first time."
