Title: while the angel away the devil came to play
"So this is your home?" So-ri asks as the plane comes to a stop. He was looking out the window, eyes following the flakes of snow that were lazily falling from the sky. If it wasn't for the weather we probably would be seeing a great sunrise.
"It's where I was born." I corrected, "can't really call it a home."
"So why are you homesick?"
I sucked in air between my teeth thinking about that question. "It's more like I'm 'people sick' in both senses." I rub the back of my head. "There's someone here I want to see and to be honest I need a break."
"A break huh?" So-ri raised an eyebrow at me pulling the scarf that covered his face a little higher. I just knew he would have some bit of insight to hit me with but thankfully Bastion dropped in wrapping his muscular arms around the both of us and pulling us out of our seats
"Well, what are we waiting for?" He asks, shaking us slightly. "Sooner you leave the sooner you remember how much you hate this place and come back." I had something snide to say about that but Bastion was already steering us to the door of the plane.
"What the hell?" I say as I see the sight before me as we exited the plane. Quinn was trying to stop Christopher from eating the snow, which wasn't the oddest thing they stopped the man from doing. What really attracted my attention was Roofy, Eero, and the monstrosity by them.
"Like it?" Eero asked, patting the purple suitcase that was wider than me and taller than Bastion. "Got all your hero gear in it and some other stuff that you might need on your vacation."
"How the hell did you get this on the plane without my noticing? And how the fuck is it going to get to my room? Sure as hell won't fit in a normal taxi."
"It hovers and has magnets," he smacks the side. "We could have stuck it to the plane, it would have stayed on, as for how we got it in without you noticing..."
"We had Anasova stand in front of the plane loading station," Bastion said as we walked over to the group. "Might as well as have been invisible."
I huffed at him but accepted that point. I'd already taken Roofy's advice and apologies to Anasova about some of what I said. It helped to clear the air but there was still tension there and I would know because most of it was still coming from me.
"Why did you only pack up a duffle bag anyway? You're staying here for months right?" So-ri asked
"I was planning to buy whatever I needed, a fresh start and all that." I answered, which earned me an odd look from the Korean boy.
"Fresh start can go rotten fast pretty quickly." He replied, and before I could ask him the fuck that meant I was interrupted.
"Alright alright, enough horseplay." Roofy said, clapping her hands. "This is a public airport, after all, let's not make a scene".
"Oh come on, can't we stay for like a day?" Bastion asks, "not like we got any missions for the week."
"Actually you guys do have to be in Iran by the end of the day." Roofy manages to not flinch as all the class turns to look at her with annoyed looks. "Mark requested you to assist him in the Middle East." The chorus of groans and growls was a testament to how the class felt about that.
