Maddie woke up in a beam of sunlight shining in through the gap in her curtains. She rolled over and snuggled into her pillows. She was a bit hungry, but had no intentions of leaving her warm bed anytime soon. She had just closed her eyes and was thinking about going back so sleep when her peace was interrupted by some sort of commotion elsewhere in the house.
"GIVE me back my PHONE, JAMES!" Screamed Calvin's dulcet tones. Cue a thunder of feet on the stairs as (Maddie assumed) James ran up them to escape Cal. She heard Monty laughing as Calvin got more and more frustrated.
"JAMES!" He roared, and pounded up the stairs. Maddie heard a dull thud and a cry from next door. She could imagine Calvin's eyes widening as he tried to save himself.
"No, look you're fine James, I really didn't push you that hard..." He pleaded.
"Didn't you now, Calvin Michael." Maddie faintly heard Leon say through the wall. It wasn't hard to imagine him materialising in the doorway. "Nor did you chase your brother while shouting loud enough for the whole street to hear, I presume?"
"It was Monty...?" Cal tried.
"I don't think so." Replied his older brother, "I'll be taking that phone back, thank you. You too James, I think I've spoken to you three enough about taking each others belongings."
Maddie could hear the boys grumbling, despite them being in a different room.
"Care to repeat that, James Jordan?"
"No I'm sorry!" James said quickly.
"Hmm. Well if you two are both done antagonising each other, get downstairs before you disturb your sister anymore." She heard them both leave the room as her own door flung open to reveal Leon.
"Oh, you're awake. Good morning, darling. Did those two idiots wake you up?"
"No." She replied quickly. "I was awake a little before they came up."
"Okay. Well that's something, anyway. Are you ready for some breakfast?"
"Yes please." she said, climbing out of bed. "Can I get dressed first?"
"Sure darling!" He said, and left the room, shutting the door behind him.

I sat down at the table with a groan. The morning was not going my way. First, my idiot of a younger brother decides to take my phone and run around with it, because his odd little brain thinks it's funny.
All I did was told him that his brain needed looking at, which face it, it absolutely does.
He runs upstairs and tries to lock himself in his room, obviously forgetting Leon took the lock off last month after he took his girlfriend at the time in there and didn't come out for a while. Like they were even doing anything, have they met James? So I might have pushed him against the wall, but it was hardly a rough shove, he's just overdramatic. But then, the cherry on top of the morning, my lovely, reasonable oldest brother waltzes in here and takes my phone back. He literally took James' phone for doing the same thing a moment later! I didn't tell him that, though. I don't have a death wish.
And now all the fruit loops are gone.
F*ucking typical.
I pulled a couple of slices of toast out of the toaster. Picking up a plate, I slammed it and the toast down on the table. James stared at me with widened eyes.
