Chapter 1: Welcome to the Playground

I can hear everyone panting as we scale the edge of a building. I am nearing the top of the building, right under Vi and Cayden as they climb up. "We're almost there," she says, clinging to the side of the building with one hand. "Aw man," Claggor huffs as we continue climbing. Cayden chuckles, "Come on guys. It's not much further.

With some effort, I pull myself onto the roof as the breeze blows my hair into my face. I let out a sigh as I put my black hair behind my ear and walk up to Vi who is now standing on the other end of the building. That's definitely safe... "Hey Powder," Vi calls behind her, "come take a look." Her blue-haired sister walks over to Vi– from beside me? I didn't even know she was there, you're a sneaky one, Powder. "Woah," Powder gasps, looking around the city of Piltover in astonishment. "It's nice getting above it all, huh?" Asks Vi. I walk up beside them and look around the city below us; enforcers roam the streets, airships fill the air, and topsiders go about their day. Angrily, I clench my fists as an angry sigh escapes me. They act as if the people of the undercity didn't exist.

I barely notice Cayden walking up to me and placing a hand on my shoulder. I look up at my older brother who gives me an understanding look. I relax a bit, knowing my brother is still here. I give him a small nod to let him know that I am fine. Seeing this, he removes her hand from my shoulder and ruffles my hair. A mechanical whirring passes above us and looked up to see a blimp flying over us, "One day, I'm gonna ride in one of those things." Says Powder incredulously, "and one day, I'm going to shoot one of 'em down" replies Mylo walking over and making a gun shape with his hands. I scoff and hit his arm. He glares at me as he grabs his arm. "Really?" I ask him. Rather than say anything, he lets go of his arm and walks over to Claggor.

"Vi, are you sure about this?" Asks Claggor uncertainly "look if we get caught, we're-"
"We're not gonna get caught," Vi says, quickly cutting him off as we cross the roof of another building. "We'll be in and out before anyone notices." She walks over to the ledge of the roof we are on and leans out, looking down. "All right, everybody, follow me. Just don't look down." She quickly jumps onto the ridge of the roof and then onto a nearby balcony's roof, lowering herself to the balcony itself. She stands on the outside edge of the railing and then jumps, landing on a roof on the opposite street in a crouched position.

Vi looks over to us and Mylo cracks his knuckles, pushing Claggor back before he can follow her. Mylo quickly slides down to the ridge of the roof and down to the balcony, then jumps to the roof Vi is standing on. Claggor lands right beside Mylo with a cupcake in his mouth. When did he get that? "Couldn't we have at least just walked there?" Asks Claggor. "Nope, we gotta stay out of sight for this," Cayden says as he lands beside Claggor. Vi looks up at Powder and me, still on the other roof. I look over to Powder and see her breathing heavily, staring down at the floor below us. "Called it," says Mylo "this is on you Vi." I immediately look down at him. Honestly, I feel bad for Powder. Mylo is such a bully. "I'll go get her," Cayden says, beginning to make his way back. "No," says Vi stopping him in his tracks. "Hey Powder, look at me" Vi calls back to her sister. Powder hesitantly looks up. "What did I tell you?"
"That, that I'm ready."
"That's right, so?" Powder takes a deep breath and looks at me. A reassuring smile appears on my face, "You got this, Powder. You can do it!" I pat her shoulder as further reassurance. She nods and walks over to the edge of the building and slides down the edge, yelping as she hits the ridge. She swings down to the balcony and sighs in relief as she hits stable ground again, she turns around and jumps to the building the others are on. She makes it to the other building but nearly falls back over the edge.

My eyes widen, but before she can fall Vi grabs her arm. "Thanks" says Powder as Vi pulls her up. As soon as Powder is safely on the roof, I slide down the roof and onto the balcony, clearing the jump to the opposite roof. As we climb up the roof Mylo scoffs at Powder and I quickly place myself between the two of them, glaring at him.
