Ryan POV
I wake up to my mom calling me. I sit up as she crosses her arms over her chest. "I'm up." She looks at my appearance and I loook away from her feeling insecure. "Hurry up before your late to school." My right eyebrow raises as I grabbed my red-cased iPhone off the brown nightstand. "Mom, I don't go to school. I'm home-schooled. Remember that?"
I ask her earning a certain look from her. "You are no longer home-schooled. Me and your father enrolled you into a school." I widen my eyes at her words. "Why am I just now finding this out?" I ask her as she walks to my room door. "Because we made the decision. Hurry up and get dressed. Me and your father willbe here late so make sure you're ready at 8. We're meeting your brother tonight."
Before I can say anything she walks out the room making me sigh. They don't even care to tell me. They only care about their selves and my big brother Bob, who graduated from Harvard and then moved out. I get up from my bed and I walk toward my bathroom.
Time Skip
After my hot shower, I step into my walk-in closet putting on black pants and a plain white t-shirt topping the outfit with some black and white checkers. I check myself out in the mirror that's standing in the middle of my closet and I grab my phone walking downstairs.
"Morning Ryan." My father says without any emotion. I turn to him and see him reading his daily newspaper. "Morning." I grab the coffee mug that's waiting for me on the counter. "The driver is outside waiting for you." I look at him after taking a sip of my black coffee. "But this is my first time in a school, ever. Your not coming?" I ask him as he shakes his head.
"No. We're not going because we have a meeting to go to." My dad is the CEO and my mom is the private secretary. "You're a big boy. You can handle it." I silently sigh to myself and stand up leaving my coffee on the counter. "Right. Bye."
"And make sure your ready by 8 tonight." I nod pushing my feelings out of the way and walking out of the house. I walk towards our driver, Kevin standing by the limo my parents own. "Good morning Mr. Anderson."
"Good morning Kevin. I thought I told you to call me Ryan." He chuckles softly and nods. "Yes, you did. So are you ready to go?" I look at the limo shaking my head. "Can you drive a different car?" He looks at the limo with confusion splattered on his face.
"What's wrong with the driving limo Mr. Anderson?" He asks me looking back at me. "It's Ryan again. And I don't wanna be a show-off Kevin" He nods putting the keys in his pocket. "Okay Ryan. Let's pick something else."
I exhale a breath nodding. "Which car Ryan?" I look at the 7 different cars until I stop at my favorite car ever. The Mercedes-Benz. Smiling, I tell him. "The Mercedes-Benz." He chuckles and nods. "Good choice. Now let's go before your late."
I nod going into the car. Kevin shuts the door getting into the driver's seat and starting the car. He backs out of the driveway driving to my new school. This my very first time going to a school and of course my parents aren't with me. But they went with Bob to his first day of college. They'll always put Bob over me. Deep in my thinking, I didn't notice that we arrived.
Kevin clears his throat. "Ryan, we're here." I look up from my hands. "Oh okay, thanks Kevin. Amd don't open my door," I tell him before he gets out. As he nods, I get out of the car grabbing my phone. Kevin rolls the window down smiling to reassure me.
"Good luck on your first day." I return the smile nervously. "Thanks Kevin." I turn around as Kevin drives off. I then realized that my loving parents didn't give me a bag, but it's too late now, Kevin drove away. I walk to the entrance of the school with everyone looking at me. Most of them whispering about me.
"What is this boy doing in this all-black school?"
"He is about to get killed."
I shake off their comments walking into the school. I look around and I spot 3 kids laughing. "They look friendly." I swallow down my nerves walking towards them. They can't see me since I'm short so I clear my throat and they turn around looking at me. I gulp nervously feeling my shyness come back. "What white boy?" Asks the boy in the middle. "Um, do you know where the office is?"
"Why should we help you? You ain't our master," says the boy on the left. I sigh as they laugh at what he said. "Run along white boy." I look at the taller one as they walk away from me.
"Well that was rude." A girl touches my shoulder startling me, I jump holding my chest. "Shit, sorry for scaring you." I turn around and see a medium height black girl with a purple purse and pretty makeup.
"Don't worry about them." I nod feeling myself turning red. "You cute for a white boy." I nervously smile. "Umm, thanks." I've never been complimented by a pretty girl before. "Your very pretty too." She blushes and smiles. "Aww, shucks don't make me start blushing. What's your name?"
I put my hand out to give her a handshake. "I'm Ryan Anderson." She looks at my hand with confusion on her face. And then she nods as if realizing something and she shakes my hand. "La' Tasha Crawford. You must be looking for the office."
I nod. "Yes, I need the office." She nods and smiles. "Follow me." I smiles gratefully at her. "Thank you."
"No problem boo." She winks at me making me blush furiously. I walk with her to the office. "So uhm, who were those 3 boys?" I ask her as she sighs. "The tallest one is Trey. The other tall one is Messiah, and then the short one is Chris. Been best friends ever since I came here. Since obviously they don't like you, Don't talk to them, don't even look or breathe their way." She looks at me. "Only for your safety."
I look at her confused. "Why?" She sighs and lightyear touches my arm. "No offense but you're a white boy and I'm guessing you're rich." I swallow my spit nervously, nodding. "Yeah. But my parents are rich not me."
She hums looking at her pink nails. "Well apparently they hate rich people because of course white people get everything handed to them while the black community work hard for the things they got."
"Oh," I reply shortly. That makes sense but how can someone judge you without getting to know you? We stop in front of a brown door that says the word: OFFICE. "I'll wait for you right here alright?" I nod walking into the office inhaling the coffee smell. Someone clears their throat stopping me from looking around some more and I look in front of me.
I see a black short lady with glasses hanging from her neck. "How may I help you?" She asks me. I walk up to the big brown marble desk. "Umm I'm the new student." She nods and looks at me. "You must be Ryan Anderson." I nod and she nods. "Well, Ryan welcome to the school. Here's your schedule and your locker number with your lock combination."
She hands me my schedule and a piece of paper, which I'm assuming is my locker number and combination. "Thank you." She smiles. Her smile is just like honey, so sweet. "You welcome sweetheart. Now hurry up before your late."
I nod walking out of the office. I walk toward La'Tasha. "Lemme see your schedule." I hand her my schedule. I tense up because what if we have no classes together? And what of we only get to see each other at lunch. "You got all my classes." I sigh in relief relaxing my body and thanking God that I have all my classes with my new and only friend. "Let's go ta class before we're late." I nod as we walk to our first class.
Just editing things I feel like needs to be editing. I was rereading all of these chapters and I didn't like how I wrote these. So I'm editing it. Hopefully, I stay interested in this book.
