Ryan POV
I wake up groaning in pain. What happened yesterday? Oh yeah, I got beat and raped by my own father. My bottom and my head hurts. I look around for my phone only to see it on the floor. Great. I look at the time clock on my nightstand and my eyes widen. Shit. I'm late for school. I try to stand up but the pain shooting from my thighs makes me sit back down.
I heave out frustrated sigh and I lean down to scoop it from the floor. I press La'Tasha's contact and I put the phone to my ear hearing it ring. "Hello?"
"I-It--" I clear my throat. "It's Ryan." My raspy voice says. "Ryan? Oh. Ryan where are you?" Her immediate concern warms my heart. "I'm at home."
"Why? Is everything okay? Are you okay?" I fake chuckle hoping that she doesn't hear it. I can't tell her that I got beaten and raped by my own father. What would she think of me? "I'm okay. I just didn't feel good, so I'm staying at home." She hums. "Do I need to come over after school?" I nervously gulp. I can't have her coming here and seeing me like this. "You don't have to worry about me."
"I'm coming over after school." I bite my lip. "No No No. It's okay Latty. I'm okay." She hums. "I don't care if your okay Ry. If your sick, I know just the thing to make you feel better in no time." I sigh and slowly lay down. "There's nothing that I can say that'll make you say no?"
"Nope." I sigh again. "Okay. I'll send you the address before you come over." She chuckles making me slightly smile. "Now was that so hard Ry? Get you some rest and text me the address when you wake up." I nod even though she can't see me. "Okay. I will." She hangs up and I put my phone on the nightstand beside me letting sleep consume me.

"Who in the fuck did that to you?" She walks past me and I sigh closing the door. "It was nobody Latty." She rolls her eyes. "So nobody is gonna leave hand marks on your neck and a big ass red mark on your face Ryan?" I nod sitting down on the couch. "I don't believe that shit. Tell me who the fuck put they hands on you. Was it Trey and them? Did they jump you when I left? I'm gonna kill them."
"No. Latty. It wasn't them. They didn't do anything to me. As soon as you left, I left." She sits down on the couch beside me. "So then, who's doing that to you? Ryan." She holds onto my hands. "You can trust me Ryan." I look at her hand and back at her. I smile. "Latty. I am okay. I was doing a tiktok where you had to choke yourself and then I hit my face on the door."
"A tiktok? You were doing a tiktok Ryan?" I nod and she scoffs. "I'm not buying that," I tense up. "But I'll leave it alone for right now." I relax and I smile at her. "So what did you bring?"
I ask her changing the subject. "I brung some of my famous soup." She smiles and I grab the bag. "Famous soup?" She nods and I put my nose close to the bag. "Smells good." She takes the bag from your hands and opens the lid of the bowl. "Try it." She hands me a spoon and the bowl. I take a spoonful of the soup and slightly blow the steam away from the spoon. I put the spoon in my mouth and I look at her putting the spoon down. "Well? Is it good?"
I swallow the soup. "It smells good but it tastes horrible." She gasps and hits me on my shoulder. "Ow. What was that for?" She sticks her tongue out and grabs the bowl. "You ungrateful little fuck."
I laugh at her face. "Latty, I was playing. It taste amazing." She rolls her eyes and moves away from me. "Latty. What are you doing?"
"Getting away from you." I lay on her shoulder and look at her. "But why? I thought you loved me." She looks at me and looks away. "Your ugly. Stop doing that." I put my arms around her and gently shake her. "Lattyyyyyy." She shakes her head. "Lattyyyyyy." She looks at me and rolls her eyes. "Your so annoying." She says while smiling.
I kiss her cheek. "You love me though." She folds her arms and nods. "I hate you." I gasp getting off of her. "You hate me?" She nods and I scoot away from her confusing her. "Where are you going?" She scoots to me and I tickle her causing her to laugh. "Ryan, Ryan stop. I'm ticklish." Her laugh makes me smile.
"I can't stop Latty. You have to say you don't hate me." She laughs and tries to move away. "R-Ryan." I shake my head tickling her even more. "Okay. Okay. Ryan I don't gate you anymore." I stop tickling her and she calms down. "I love you Latty."
"I love you too Ryan."
One week later
"Your finally back in school." I smile while walking with La' Tasha to our first class with our arms looped together. I just came back to school after I "gotten better" from, being sick. I smile and nod at her words. "Yeah. It feels good to be back." She scoffs. "Yeah after you left me for a whole week." She pushes me playfully. "Hey. I said I was sorry for that."
We laugh as we walk inside the classroom. I stop in my tracks seeing Trey in the seat beside mine. What is he doing sitting by my seat? Does he wanna bully me some more? I make eye contact with him.
I hurry and sit down by La' Tasha before the bell rings. The bell rings as Ms. Brown comes into the classroom. "Good morning guys. Today we will be doing something different. You will be working in the groups of 3 but this will be one of your biggest projects. You will make a presentation on why black and white people should be working together."
"Ryan." I look to the side to see Trey staring at me. "Yeah?" He leans a little closer making me move back. "Do you want to be my partner?" I rub my lips together and shake my head. "La'Tasha and me are already partners."
"I could've sworn she said groups of 3 Ryan." My ears turn red. "Oh. Well then uhh, let me ask La'Tasha." I turn to La'Tasha and she smirks. "What?"
"Who got you blushing like that?" I feel my face. "Blushing? Im not blushing." She looks my appearance. "Mhmm." I playfully roll my eyes. "Anyway, uhm. Trey wants to be in the group. Is that okay?" She sighs and looks behind me. "I guess. He just better not try anything. Or Im gonna kill him." I chuckle and turn back to Trey.
"She said that you can join." He nods and looks at my appearance. Whats wrong with my appearance? "What?" He shakes his head. "Its nothing." I furrowmy eyebrows. "No. What is it?" He shrugs and looks at me. "Its just that you loking cute today." I blush at his words.
I look at the teacher earning a chuckle from Trey. It can only make me wonder. Is he even gay?
At lunch, I told Latty about the whole thing and she started teasing me. "I knew it. I knew yall were flirting." I almost choke on my water. "What? No. Me and him weren't flirting." She shrugs and smiles.
"Probably not but, you were blushing while you were telling me about it. And you still are." I shake my head. "Who wouldn't be? He complimented me. Of course I'm gonna be blushing if someone who looks good compliments me." She smirks. "So he looks good."
"What? No. That's not what I was saying."
"So what were you saying?" I slowly look behind me to see Chris, Messiah and Trey. "Trey. Hi." Shit.
