Self Expression

“I would rather be hated for who I am than liked for who I am not." ~ Kurt Cobain.

In the modern world, being able to express one self is everything. Or, it should be. We shouldn't feel the need to fit ourselves into a group, and adopt every attribute, e.g. "Oh, the leader has blonde hair so I will dye mine too!"

No.

I'm not saying not to have role models or the like. I am saying to be yourself. Yes, you can admire that amazing person, and you can take some positive traits, but don't go overboard and copy everything.

Please, there's a limit to it.

On the other side of my discussion, there are people that do express themselves, but they get criticised. And I'm not talking about, “Comb your hair, you have bedhead," kind of criticism.

I'm talking about the beat-down, drag-out type of criticising, that toes the lib  of cyber-bullying. The kind that makes a person question his/her own individuality. And that really shouldn't be.

A person shouldn't be told how to feel, or how to react to a situation, neither should they be judged on how they react or feel. Persons should be able to voice their own opinions on certain matters without fear of how the social world will take it.

Yes, you disagree, but state it in a civilized manner. Don't be all, what's the term, blasé about it. (Am I using it right?)

Anyway, what I'm saying is not to put a person down for what they believe in, or what their opinions are. Just accept it.

Author's Note:

I got a little jolt to do this partly as a celebration that my exam is sort of done (the state one, at least. I still have end of terms), partly after I watched a slew of Beckie0' s Videos and thirdly because I've been thinking of doing a VLog for the longest while and I haven't got the guts to do it quite yet.

Comment and tell me what you think please. Pretty please?
