I leave the bed and get ready without noise, to avoid waking Jelan up. I know he needs the sleep, as we stayed up late yesterday. Once I put on my training clothes, I join the kitchen for a cup of coffee, the only thing I really need before starting the day.

It would be a perfect day to go explore the forest in my wolf form. I stand on the balcony, inhaling the fresh air and the warmth of the cup, when someone tugs on my braid.

- Morning Pup.

- Isn't that supposed to be your own nickname ? I ask Fenrys with a greeting smile as he leans his elbows on the rail.

- It suits you just as well. But you didn't greet me good morning. How rude.

I roll my eyes.

- Can I train with someone else than you ?

- I'm offended.

- Good morning Wolfie.

The Fae gives me an 'are you serious' face.

- Wolfie ?

I shrug.

- I'm done with coffee, we can start.

- Let's see how well you kept up in Antica, he taunts with a shit-eating grin.

-------------------

- Stop, I pant, struggling to catch my breath.

The Wolf of Doranelle only grins, taunting me.

- Your opponent won't just stop when you ask to.

- I don't care, stop.

I sit down, refusing to go on another minute without a break. The male sighs but sheathes his blade nonetheless.

- Do you have water ? Please tell me you have water, I beg him.

He throws me a bottle.

- Here, frail little princess.

- Fuck off.

He sits on the bare ground by my side.

- Language.

- Says you.

I drink half of the liquid, desperate for it's freshness. I feel Fenrys' gaze on me though I refuse to meet it.

- What ?

- How are you so tired ?

- I had a short night, Wolfie.

- With your boyfriend ?

- Why do you seem to care so much ?

No answer. Then :

- I care about you, it's just normal. I'm your parents' friend.

I look at him and he's the one avoiding my eyes. I've always loved his eyes. These onyx, dark but full-of-life orbs. So deep and so warm. So sensual too, along with his flirty smile.

- There's something you're not telling me, but I'll leave you be and refrain from being nosey, I say while getting up. Come on, we're not done here. I do plan to kick your centuries-of-fighting ass.

---------------------

- I won.

The Wolf of Doranelle is pushed up against the wall, my blade under his throat and my elbow keeping him in place.

- No, he counters.

Without giving me a chance to react, he drops his blades and catches my wrists before swiping his feet under mine, making me fall while he goes down with me, securing my hands against the cold, hard surface.
