"Fuck," I cuss to myself, hurrying to get the water spill up off my new dorm room floor. It's just like me to ruin something good because trust me when I say this room is perfect.

It's big and spacious and on top of that, it's just full and furnished. I don't know where they do this at but I love it here and I'm for sure staying.

A small but loud knock comes from the door before it slowly opens and a head peeks out. "I think this the right room, you Taylor?" the light skin girl walks in.

She bad.

"Yeah, you Kayla?"

"The one and only," she chants, rolling her bags and totes in on a dolly. "This room big as hell."

Is she me?

"Hell yeah," I agree, going over to help her bring her things in. "You real pretty by the way."

"Thank you, you pretty too friend."

Friend? Bitch I said you bad.

"This yo first year here?" I ask her, just trying to start up some conversation with my roommate. I'm going to assume this is how they become friends because I never had one so I wouldn't know.

"Yeah I transferred from that white ass school Berkley," she shakes her head. "That wasn't for me."

"Girl I feel you, I came from Princeton but I was like nah I need that HBCU experience," I laugh a little, gaining amusement from Kayla.

"Man what. See it's just me and my mama and we came from literally nothing so the goal was to put me in a good school because we got it now but nope I was too black there," she explains.

"It's me and my mama too, and yeah I feel ya with the being too black, that shit real."

"Hell yeah..."

Kayla and I sit down and talk for hours and hours about everything. It seems like I've known this girl forever the way we just relate to each other off top and I'm honestly glad we're clicking because it's hard to trust females these days, especially as friends.

Everyone's Shiesty.

"You sure you comfortable being around all these people because ion want you to be uncomfortable," I double check with Kayla one more time before we get out the car.

We just pulled up to Mario's crib to just chill with him and whoever else at this house of his. He the definition of open crib because everybody stay at his spot.

"Yeah gurl, I'm good," she assures me. "I need to meet new people on campus anyway."

"Alright let's go then," I shrug off my worry for her. I don't know why I'm being extra protective, I guess it's instinct considering I know how it feels to be somewhere you're completely uncomfortable.
