The door clicked shut, and Dryda yawned, sinking against the wall. No offense to Vizz or Treble, but the dorm was incredibly tiny, with virtually nothing to do. Dryda and her six classmates had built a blanket fort in the common area between the two bedrooms, then taken it apart and rebuilt it, but that had lasted only an hour or so before they put everything away. The bedrooms themselves were basically off-limits, or at least "don't ruin everything," which Dryda did understand. She didn't want anyone messing with her bedroom, whether she knew them well or not. But that left maybe a three by three meter area for seven people, twenty four hours a day, for the past nearly two days. Dryda sighed.

"Is Treble going to get us food?" Zillie asked.

Rielle stepped away from the peephole, nearly stepping on Dryda's knees. "She went into what's-his-name's room. The guy we rescued."

"So...yes?" Zillie asked, frost forming from his breath.

Rielle glared. "So, it means she's helping him out with stuff since he broke a lot of bones."

Zillie rolled his eyes. "I knew that. But that's also her excuse to smuggle us food since--"

Kwayo popped out of thin air beside Zillie, silencing him. For half a second. "--Since Kwayo and Bella aren't doing that anymore?"

Kwayo sighed, and Bella poked her head into the hallway. "Thanks for the reminder, Zillie, of our failures. But we weren't exactly quiet. They'll be looking for odd things now that one of their laboratory rooms got mysteriously demolished."

"I get that," Zillie conceded, "I just fail to see the difference between you two doing it--and getting halfway decent things, instead of that nasty protein powder--and her smuggling extra food during break times. It's the same amount of missing food, isn't it?"

Treble knocked on the door and they fell silent. "You don't think she heard that, do you?" Zillie whispered.

"If she did, that's your fault," Bella said in her regular speaking voice.

Rielle knocked on the door back, following the same pattern. Dryda reluctantly pulled her legs to a crouch, leaving space for the opening door. Treble stepped in, blinking in surprise. "You're all...right here."

"Yeah," Kwayo nodded. "We got tired of the common room. This hallway has much more interesting carpet."

Treble glanced down, eyebrows knit together. "But...it's the same carpet."

Kwayo wrinkled his nose. "I know. I was trying to be funny."

Treble swallowed. "Oh. Well, I forgot to leave this," she let the door swing closed and took off her backpack. Dryda stood, pressing against the wall. "I got some things for lunch when I came back from class. Hopefully it's enough,"She lifted out a large loaf of bread and some small packets of...Dryda tilted her head, trying to read the label.

"What's mant-e-quil..?" Bella asked.

"Oh. That's butter. Mantequilla means butter--these are peanut butter. Here," she poured the items into Rielle's hands. "Does anyone need to use the bathroom before I go back to Maro's room?"

"Ooh," Tago appeared behind Bella. "Me. I do."

"Anyone else?" Treble asked.

Rielle shrugged her shoulders. "May as well," she dumped the bread and peanut butter packets over to Dryda.

"I'm coming," Manuel added.

"Okay. Come on," Treble tugged open the door.

Dryda squeezed against the wall so her classmates could file past. Technically, they didn't need Treble to take them to the bathroom. After the first time, anyway. But Treble's siren powers were the best way they had to ensure people didn't say anything if they ran into strangers.
