As soon as we got back James mom and dad rushed the poor puppy to the vet, honestly I couldn't tell if he was still breathing. I forced James to stay here and get warmed up before he gets sick, it's a wonder he can still stand, his arms and legs are scratched up by the impact of the ice, other than that he seems fine.
Two days later
The vet said that the pup is fine but has to be monitored, considering we aren't the puppies actual owner James has to fill out a whole bunch of forms for adoption and medical crap, Me and James talked it through, he has basically moved in with me and he really wanted to keep the dog so I talked to my landlord and he said I could have the pup as long as I pay the fee. James already has that covered, we asked the clinic to keep the pup for two more days, considering tomorrow is Christmas eve, we wanted to surprise everyone on Christmas with the addition to the family.
Christmas Morning
Danni and Jess are fighting over cups of coffee while James mom and dad are snuggling on the couch watching The Grinch. My mom Is currently hoarding the kitchen with cookies and sweets, not that I mind.
I hear a thud and turn around to see Gabe on the ground crying, "What happened?" I run up to him, "I hit my toe." I smile slightly, he stubbed his toe. Caroline and Kane are staring at me waiting for an explanation, "He's okay." I assure them, then they turn back to the movie as I walk with Gabe to the kitchen to help my mom bake a pie.
Later
James Pov
I got up early this morning to retrieve this little guy, I have a feeling everyone is going to love him. Me and Steph are taking him with us back to New York next week, I mean we can't just leave him besides I'm a sucker for his cute puppy dog eyes.
By the time I get back I know everyone is ready to open gifts and is wondering where I am, Only Steph knows where I actually was, I put the little guy in a big gift box with small holes, "it's okay buddy, It's just for a few minutes." I stroke his head as he tries to climb out. I put the cover on and carry the box inside being extra careful with the cargo.
I walk in and everyone looks at me, they're all sitting around the tree with unopened gifts. "you didn't have to wait, you know." Gabe is pouting and Danni glares at me, "Mom made us." Danni is pissed to say the least. Steph walks up to me and makes an announcement, "Me and James have a surprise, I guess you can say it's an addition to our family." her mom gasp, "Are you pregnant?" My eyes grew wide and Stephanie instantly turned down the thought, "What? No! Um James." She motions to the box.
I put the box down and look towards Gabe, "You wanna open it?" His eyes sparkle as he crawls on his hands and knees towards the box, When he lift the lid the whole room gasp.

As Gabe, and everyone else, love on and play with the puppy me and Stephanie are trying to decide on a name, "Jasper" I suggest, she shakes her head, "Comet?" we kept going back and forth but nothing seemed right, "Well I guess he's going to be nameless." I laugh. Stephanie watches as her mom throws a toy for the puppy, "I'm just glad he's alive, he's very lucky you found him when you did." then it dawned on me, "Lucky!" Steph turns to me confused, "That's his name." a smile creeps up on her face, "It suits him, I like it."
