CHAPTER TWO || DIGGING DEEP—————————————————————————-
photos, 3 photos of ash. the violent rush of dread that spiralled through her stomach sent her anxiety into overdrive. The feeling almost tugging at the lining of her stomach urging her to throw up, yet she remained composed. Her straight face not representing the harrowing panic rushing through her veins as her heart raced, the strong pounding of her heart echoed against her rib cage drowning out the voices of her team.
she pulled them out of the envelope fighting the nausea that plagued her body as she glanced around the room insuring everyone was busy before her eyes darted back to the photographs. examining them she figured out they were all taken in the Pilsen area. One at the garage with jay, One walking back to her undercover apartment and the last of her giving her car a test drive.
she stared down at the photos in disbelief her mind racing as she attempted to figure out who could possibly have taken them, her breath hitched remembering as she mentally went through all the people who'd possibly want her hurt... dead even. but she knew she'd hidden her tracks well enough he couldn't find her, or at least she thought...
digging through the envelope Ash found a piece of paper folded up real small, looking around the bullpen again just making sure no red flags had been risen, she unfolded the tainted piece of paper.
ashley quinn, your teams here missing their most important member i guess we'll see how long they last without you.
the hairs on the back of her neck instantly standing tall. Dread consumed her body as she swallowed the bile that had risen in her throat. looking around the room once again she took a breath before shoving everything back into the envelope and putting it in her jacket pocket. her brain shovelled through possibilities, as she tried to figure out who could've possibly sent that here.
getting up from her desk she went downstairs, her heart pounding as she walked up to Trudy's desk, The anxious brunette watched as Trudy scolded a patrol officer. Ash scratched at her arm, the thoughts in her mind overpowering her ability to rationalise. they couldn't be there. first hobbs... now the letter. it didn't make sense, and it caused a whirlwind of nausea to flood through her body.
"Quinn what do you need?" the stern woman asked seeing ash at her desk, clearly agitated with her patrol officers. yet Trudy always had time for Ashley, Ash had become the one people in Intelligence more so Adam would come to when he needed to ask Trudy a favour. As Ash was labelled 'Platts favourite'.
the two women both had the agreement, personal and private lives stay as that. there was no need to pry, no need to pry. Ash appreciated having someone who didn't seem interested in her past, not even in the slightest. it was refreshing compared to being sat in a truck with Jay all day.
"Did you buzz anyone up this morning? Did anyone leave anything for me?" Ash asked in a desperate attempt to figure out who and how that envelope ended up on her desk. Ash's hand remained tightly tucked in her pocket clutching the envelope, hoping she could figure out what was going on.
"First person up was Adam and nothing's been left for you why?" Ash wiped her clammy hand on her trousers, her stomach churning with uncertainty as she nodded, the envelope in her pocket being crushed by the anxious shaky hand she was hiding.
"Can you hold me down on a personal?" Trudy nodded. Ash sighed walking away, her free hand running over her face before opening the door that led to the stairs. going downstairs to the garage where her PD used SUV was parked. getting inside she went to the only person who knew anything about her past, and anything was the tiny details that couldn't harm her work.
