Remus ended up staying in Regulus' room for two more hours discussing their plan. Regulus even added more to it, claiming that removing his eyebrows wouldn't be enough, they needed to hit him where it hurts. His hair. Sirius is known for his hair, it's all everyone talks about when they mention him. Remus understands in a way, it's a noticeable feature, but c'mon is it really that special? They couldn't just remove his hair though, that would be copying, so they decided to switch it up a bit. To a nice green that is, almost like the Slytherin colours. Apart from his hair, another thing Sirius was known for is his hatred for Slytherin and anything to do with it, so this colour will make really make him happy.
The next day Remus awoke full of excitement, actually looking forward to seeing Sirius for once. He even completely ignored any remarks Sirius made at breakfast this morning, too excited to care. This excitement didn't last for long though, as they still had classes to attend to. Remus actually quite liked class, he liked the challenge of it, but today it was awfully boring. His anticipation for his prank made the time go by so much slower.
By the time classes were over, they had about an hour until dinner. Remus basically ran out of his charms classroom, in a hurry to find Regulus. He found him quite easily, sitting by the lake in his usual spot. Remus plopped down right beside him.
" You are interrupting my peace" Regulus stated without even looking up from his book.
"You've had enough peace for one day, we have important matters on our hands" Remus grinned, "Do you remember the plan?"
"Yes Remus, I recall you interrupting my sleep last night as well to plan it."
"Hey it's an important task, plus you enjoy my company."
"I suppose your tolerable."
"See there it is, you love me Reg."
"You about to become intolerable if you don't shut up and let me read."
Later that day
Regulus is standing outside the Gryffindor common room, feeling like an absolute idiot while Remus hides behind a pillar. The reason Remus knows this is because Regulus has made it very clear multiple times just how stupid he looks and feels.
"Remus you owe me" Regulus states.
"Shhh he's coming" Remus whisper shouts back.
Right on cue Sirius walks out of the common room with James at his side. The two were inseparable, it's actually quite annoying. He stops right in his tracks when he sees Regulus.
"What are you doing here?" Sirius asks.
"I am here to see you obviously, I don't hang around here for the fun of it now do I?" Regulus spits back.
"Yeah okay, James go on I'll meet you in the Great Hall," Sirius says. Hesitantly James looks between Sirius and Regulus, but does end up leaving. "What do you want?"
"I-" Regulus sighed knowing he was about to hate himself for saying it, "I wanted some advice for quidditch."
Sirius look dumbstruck, "You want.. advice?"
"Yes, with my new broom it's not as smooth to turn corners. Any advice?" Remus was shocked Sirius was believing any of this, not only was Regulus absolutely amazing on a broom, he also looked like he would rather die than have this conversation. Either way now that Sirius was engaged in this conversation, that was the cue. Remus pulled out his wand, pointed it at Sirius, and quietly whispered the incantation.
"Capillus Damnum"
On command Sirius hair was turning a dark green colour, and Remus could only hope that his eyebrows were gone to. He could only see the back of his head at the moment. He was amazed Regulus kept a straight face the entire time, he shouldn't be though Regulus had an unbreakable poker face.As soon as it worked Regulus was eager to wrap up the conversation, the second Sirius was done talking Regulus said, "Okay i'll try that. Gotta go now. Bye." He turned around and began to walk away when Sirius spoke again.
"Reggie, it was nice talking to you."
But Regulus just kept walking. Remus couldn't help but feel a little guilty watching Sirius stand there, but he shouldn't be. Sirius abandoned Regulus, he deserves this.
Eventually Sirius did head to the Great Hall for dinner, and Remus made sure to follow close behind. This way he got to see every reaction, and boy was it good. So many girls just snickered and laughed when they walked past him, but Sirius obviously thought this was an act of affection and kept waving or sending them winks. Some people stopped dead in their tracks just to stare. Either way Sirius was soaking up the attention. When they got to the Great Hall though it was a different story, the second Sirius walked in the hall went quiet, minus the sound of Lily dropping her fork on her plate.
"Blood hell mate, what the fuck happened to your hair?" James asked.
"And your eyebrows?" Lily added in.
"What are you talking about? I didn't do anything to them?" Sirius asked genuinely confused. That's when Mary handed him a compact mirror out of her pocket. When he opened in his face dropped. Immediately he stormed over to the Slytherin table to confront Regulus. "You did this didn't you!"
"Actually I didn't" Regulus stared at him.
"Don't deny it, you were the one who spoke to me! I looked completely normal when I left my dorm!"
"Looked normal when I saw you as well. Like I said, I didn't do it."
Sirius just stopped and started at Regulus for a moment, contemplating if he really believed it or not. This had all become too much for Remus at this point who broke down in laughter, having to grab the wall he was standing at for stability. Immediately Sirius' head snapped around to where Remus was standing, looking furious. He stormed his way over.
"You did this! You bastard change it back." Sirius shouted.
"No I think I prefer you this way, deflate that giant ego of yours" Remus snickered.
"Oh you little-" Sirius pulled out his wand to curse Remus, but Lily was faster.
"Expelliarmus!" She shouted, disarming Sirius. "That's enough you two, no duelling in the Great Hall" She said in her Head Girl voice.
"This isn't over yet Lupin, just you wait!" Sirius gritted through his teeth. He grabbed his wand off the ground and just stormed out of the Hall.
