"What smells good!" Kaden exclaimed as soon as we walked through the kitchen.

"Baked Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, and Corn" Eva answered distractedly while checking the temperature of the chicken.

Kaden's stomach rumbled and a red blush tinted his cheeks. I giggled.

"When will it be ready?" I asked

"Soon" she said and then gasped. "Oh Shoot!" She exclaimed. Suddenly a frantic looking Gabriel burst in the kitchen and started examining Eva.

"What is it! Is it the baby?! What's wrong!" He said while touching her face, then her shoulders and then her baby bump. She pushed his probing hands away.

"The baby and I are fine, I just forgot the ingredients to make a salad!" She said and tears misted her eyes. Gabriel released his breath and hugged her to his body.

"Geez Eva, you nearly gave me a heart attack! I can't die at the age of 23!" He said and my eyes widened. I knew that we were all close in age but I didn't realize how close in age we really were. They were really young. Really,Really young.

"I'm sorry for scaring you. It's just that I really wanted a salad" she pouted and he chuckled before wrapping a hand around her waist and turning toward us.

Kaden started shaking his head. "Nope, not going to happen" he said.

"Please Kaden, do this for Eva" Gabriel pleaded and Kaden's eyes soften a bit before sighing.

"Fine what do you need" he said and Eva squealed before listing off items. Gabriel gave him some money and he wrapped his arm around my waist before pulling me to the front door.

"Kaden, we can't go to the store in our Pj's" I said and he shrugged before putting on his leather jacket. He grabbed my coat and hat for me before pushing me outside.

"Who says? It's not like we're having a fashion show. We're going to the market and coming back. Nothing spectacular" he said before opening up his truck door for me. I thanked him and soon we were on the road.

A few minutes passed before I decided to break the silence.

"You have a soft spot for Eva huh" I said and he smiled a small smile.

" I always hated going over to my Aunt's house because my cousins were either way older than me or younger than me. I never had a cousin close to my age. In a sense I was alone, I mean, they would talk to me and stuff but we never really bonded. I met Eva when I was 13, she was 17 and just started going out with Gabriel at the time. Everyone else thought I was a moody teenager who was going through a faze. She didn't. She knew exactly what I was going through and didn't judge me. From then on we became best-friends. And eventually family. I never really trusted someone as much as I trusted Eva. Well, besides you of course" he said with a wink and I laughed. "I even walked her down the aisle"

"Really! When? Why?" I asked.

"Remember the Wedding I invited you too but you couldn't go because of your Aunt's dinner party?" He asked and I nodded. I was bummed that whole weekend because I couldn't go with Kaden to the wedding but instead had to go to my Aunt Agnes stuffy dinner party. It was awful. She kept trying to set me up with her boss's son, and I was 14! For goodness sake's.

"Yeah I remember"

"Well that Eva's and Gabriel's Wedding" he said and I pouted. I can't believe I missed their wedding.

"But that doesn't explain why'd you walk Eva down the aisle. Isn't her dad suppose to walk her ?" I asked and he smiled a sad smile.

"He dad died months before she started dating Gabriel" he said and I gasped quietly. Poor Eva. She was so happy and cheerful, I couldn't believe that she lost her father at a young age.

I was lost in thought when Kaden pulled into the parking lot of a Von's. We got out and he wrapped his huge arm around my waist. I rolled my eyes.

"Kaden, remember you can't go psycho if a boy glances my way" I said and he grumbled.

"The Hell I can't"

"Kaden" I warned and he held on tighter. "So what do we need"

"Lettuce, Tomato, Cucumber, and blue cheese dressing" he listed and I nodded before walking off.

Or I would have been walking off if Kaden released his death grip on my waist.

"Where do you think you're going?" He asked

"To go get the ingredients?"

"Not by yourself" He said and we started walking toward the produce section.

"Kaden!" I whined but he just kept walking. He had the look on his face whenever we went out in public.

Cold and Impassive

"At least let me get the dressing, I'll be right there!" I said while pointing to the dressing aisle right across from the produce section. "Please Kady" I pouted and he sighed.

"Okay but make sure you're within viewing distance Sky" he warned and I squealed.

"Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!" I said while kissing his cheek.

"I mean it Skylar, I want to be able to see you" he said and I waved my hand at him.

"Got it"

When I got to the dressing sections I was kind of baffled. There were so many different blue cheese dressings! I was just about to grab one when someone bumped me from behind.

"Hey!" I yelled and turned around to come face-to-face with crystalline blue eyes.

When the guys saw me he smirked.

"Sorry babe" he said and I narrowed my eyes. I opened my mouth but a angry voice beat me to it.

"She's not your Babe" Kaden spat in distaste before he wrapped an arm around my waist.

I let out a squeak of surprise.

The other guy's eyes widen before he bowed his head.

My eyebrows scrunched in confusion.

I looked up at Kaden and noticed he had his jaw clenched. When I looked at the boy again, he was looking at the ground and sweating profusely.

"Leave" Kaden ordered. The boy nodded and was basically running out the door.

"Kaden" I whispered and the arms around me tightened. I felt his nose in my hair and heard him take deep breaths in.

"Let's go" he said and I nodded quietly.
