It was a dark and stormy night, and Jane was all alone in her old mansion on the outskirts of town. She had always felt a sense of unease in the house, but tonight was different. The creaks and groans of the wooden floorboards were louder than ever, and she couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched.

She was in her bedroom, trying to read a book by the dim light of her bedside lamp, when she heard a voice whisper her name. She looked up, but there was no one there. She rubbed her eyes and tried to shake off the strange feeling, but the voice came again, louder this time.

Jane got up and walked towards the door, but it wouldn't budge. She was trapped in her room. Suddenly, the walls started to close in on her, inch by inch. She screamed for help, but no one came. Just when she thought she was going to be crushed, the walls stopped moving, and the voice spoke again.

"I've been waiting for you, Jane," it said. "I've been waiting a very long time."

Jane's heart was racing, and she felt a cold sweat break out on her forehead. She had heard stories about the ghost that haunted her mansion, but she had never believed them until now.

As she stood there, frozen with fear, the ghost revealed itself to her. It was a ghastly figure, with skeletal hands and empty eye sockets. And then, it disappeared, leaving Jane alone in the darkness once again.

She never slept in that mansion again. She packed her bags and left, never to return. But the memory of that night haunted her for the rest of her life. She could still hear the ghost's voice, whispering her name in the darkness, and she knew that she would never truly be safe from its grasp.
