𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐅𝐈𝐅𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐍: 𝐃𝐈𝐒𝐀𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐑

My mom nagged me about the agency I chose for my internship. I swore to her that I double-checked every agency on that list, and no one else caught my eye. The hero that I was interning with was more low-key than others. I was skeptical at first but I did my research, and his mentality is what I found the most interesting.

I kept my headphones as I walked up the seven flights of stairs to his apartment. The elevator was out of commission. I glanced back down at my phone to check for the right door. I walked down the hall and stopped at 717. I didn't even knock before he answered the door with a toothbrush hanging out his mouth. I didn't even know if this was the right guy.

"You must be Ito, come in!" He opened the door wider to his apartment. Compared to the rest of this building he had a lot of natural light and a good view of the city. He had on half of his costume, dark green cargo, boots, and a white wife beater that went under his costume's top. He went back to his bathroom to finish getting ready. He came back out a minute later.

"I'm glad you chose my agency, I saw your quirk in action at the sports festival and saw so much potential. Your attacks were simple and predictable." Damn. "But that's okay, we're gonna focus on mentality and moves that can enhance your performance. What does your costume look like?"

I bent down as I opened up the case with my costume. "It's not much, a kid I saved basically designed the whole thing." I took my costume out of the case and he took it from me. "You don't have many support monitors either, just those wires huh?"

"They're for my-" "Oxygen and energy capacity, I saw. Today I want you to focus on anything you wish you could do. Let's go patrolling."

Surprisingly the streets were quiet while we patrolled. I wanted to enhance the way I thought, I didn't get how walking on sidewalks was going to do that. "Are we just gonna wait for something to happen?" I asked him as he was on his phone. "Precisely." I groaned at Disater's answer, my legs felt like they were going to fall off.

My attention was drawn to the vibrations coming from the ground. The street began to crack and hot lava seeped from the cracks. Twins with the same quirk caused a scene in the middle of the road. Both of them with bags of money from the nearest bank thrown over their backs. "Go stop them."

"What?"

"You've been bored this whole time, why can't you stop them?" I became flustered at his answer and looked away with my hands on my hips. "I can't focus my quirk on two things at once, and I still haven't controlled when I break apart."

"Take note of those things you want to improve." Disaster smiled and jumped from his spot to stop the villains. I took note of all the things he could do with his quirk that I couldn't do with mine. He had the ability to manipulate any of the earth's natural resources, earth, wind, fire, and water. Of course, there would be some lines between us, but there were a few things I took notice of as he fought.

The night of that scene he gave me homework. I was to come up with fifteen skills I wanted to improve. Tomorrow was going to be all about improving- those were his words. The next day we met at his agency because he had a big training room for us to work in.

"Okay Ito, I'm going to attack you repeatably." He held up a number with his finger as he spoke. "Your goal is to lay just one attack on me. Keep in mind that whenever you do that same boring attack I have the ability to manipulate that, so you have to get creative. Oh and if you do decide to do that you can't use your hands to touch the ground, improve somewhere else."

I wasn't the most comfortable with using anything other than that same attack, Disaster knew that, and that's why he was making me get out of my comfort zone. Disaster could control earth, wind, fire, and water, but not energy. I closed my eyes and focused on the giant bar lights above them. The lights began to flicker that's when he made his first attack.

Disaster sent a gust of wind knocking me off my feet, I had to multitask- defend myself and consume that energy. I put pressure on my front leg and just like in the cavalry battle the ground only flared up under him. Right, when he jumped back from my attack I directed the stored energy to him. He dodged that too.

I never noticed that when I'm done using that burrowed energy it goes back to where it came from. The lights stopped flickering as if I never did anything. "Pay attention to where that energy is going, remember it's taking the place of oxygen."

The next few days went on like that, and I had yet to land a solid attack on him. It was harder than I assumed it'd be, but that was okay, that's how I liked it because I was learning a lot. There would be times were we just sat in his living room in front of a flashlight and I had to work on taking that energy and breathing simultaneously.

It was the last day of my internship and I wasn't going to leave until I landed a hit on him. I was getting more comfortable with all my abilities. I quickly took the energy from the lights and focused them under me launching myself off the ground. He put up a wave of water and I broke myself up into atoms to get through it.

Then I fired the energy back at him, he used a wall of rock to protect himself from that attack. I put pressure on my right leg and made the ground flare up under him. He directed a fire attack and I consumed the energy from the fire and directed it back at him. Still, he avoided it, I had to be smarter. I had to know what he was going to do next.

So I went with my most basic attack. I caused the ground to flare up, like he said in the beginning he could just manipulate the ground- that's what he did. While he tried to use the debris back at me I directed the energy from the fire back at him. It hit him right in the chest. "Okay, okay, you got me." He groaned as he put a hand on his chest in pain.

"Let's go celebrate!" He got up from the ground wiping debris off of him. "That did even hurt did it?" I crossed my arms, I guess the goal was just to make a solid attack. "I have some ideas for your support items before we go."

After sitting with his costume designer we went out into the city for something sweet. We patrolled the city while eating dango. We spent more time stopping at food stands that protected the city though, Disaster said it was fine though.

"Okay I just got a text from my designer, she said your support items should be ready in a couple of weeks." Disaster spoke with a full mouth as he checked his phone. "You had some complicated designs."

Before I could say something back my phone went off. "You have a boyfriend or something?" Disaster teased me with the biggest grin.

"It's probably my mom checking up on me, she really didn't want me in Hosu." I pulled my phone out of my back pocket to see it was from Izuku. Disaster looked at the profile picture and started teasing me more on the topic. He only sent his location I tilted my head in confusion before an explosion went off down the road. Screams and loud noises followed shortly after.
