"What a damn shit show," The captain scoffed as they entered his workshop. He slammed the door shut with his devil fruit and threw himself into his chair.
"I have to say, I'm surprised you didn't start breaking fingers," Killer mused, leaning against the wall. Loklynn had passed out- Again- and they'd put her in Kid's room again rather than the brig, so it was just the two of them again.
Kid snorted derisively. "What, you want me to torture her? A starving former slave with mental issues, where have we heard that before, huh?! Fuckin' hell!"
"I'm okay with whatever you decide," Killer tilted his head at his captain, "You know that. It is familiar, that's why I'm checking in; I'm just wondering where your head's at."
"Alright, shut up, I know..." Kid muttered, calming down nonetheless. He twirled his chair around to tinker with some explosives. "You know what happened to my... to her. Normally, I'd have no problem throwing her off the ship, but now..."
"Do you want me to do it for you?"
"NO."
"Just offering."
A few minutes of silence past, occupied by Kid's metal fingers drumming idly on his work table; the phalanges were so big that each one fell with a slam, and it was only because of years of hearing it that Killer didn't get annoyed.
"So," Killer said after letting his captain work for awhile, "What are you going to do?"
Kid spun his chair around to look at him. "I don't have the slightest fucking clue," he admitted. There was a certain bitterness in his voice; he hated not being in complete control of the situation. "I'm open to suggestions, Kill."
Killer had already thought about this for awhile. This girl wasn't like their usual prisoners, not now that they knew she had some connection to Shanks. They couldn't just slit her throat and be done with her, she was useful.
"We need to get her to trust us- Hang on," he held up a hand, stopping Kid before he could protest, "let me finish. You don't want to force her to tell us what she knows about Shanks, right?"
"Right, Pretty much."
"Exactly, and besides that, the information part is going nowhere soon considering the fact that she doesn't have any information to give," he tapped his temple, "and there's no chance of her regaining those memories if she's not put through rehabilitation."
"I'm hearing a lot of problems and not a lot of problem solving," Kid deadpanned. "Tell me something I don't know."
"I would if you'd let me finish for once. Here's my point, though: The best way to use her against Shanks... is to get her on our side. You follow?"
Kid squinted at his first mate. "How? She probably already hates our guts, most of all mine; her first impression of us wasn't exactly stellar."
"So we show her something different," the blonde shrugged. "I'm not saying we have to change our entire personalities, far from it. We just have to cement it in her mind that her safest bet is to stay with us. Food and water, shelter, protection, things she clearly hasn't had in awhile."
"But-"
"Not everyone holds grudges like we do. You'd be surprised at how quickly some people can come around to even the slightest hint of kindness."
Kid blinked at him. "so I have to be... Nice?"
"The fact that you talk about kindness like it's a novel concept tells me this whole thing is going to be an uphill climb," Killer chuckled before sighing, rolling his neck back to look at the ceiling. "Although, I'm not really one to talk... I'm not a gentle man either, even when I try to be."
