You and neteyam are best friends. You met him about 2 weeks after he came to the islands.
‧̍̊˙˚˙ᵕ꒳ᵕ˙˚˙
"Hey neteyam!" You say as you run to him The boy quickly looks up at you "Hey y/n" he smiles
"So, I thought maybe I'd show you a little something I was thinking about.." you say shyly "And what would that be?" He asks "Oh nothing.. just, come" you say
You drag neteyam to the shore and call for your ilu Once you see your ilu a smile shows up on your lips
You hop on and tell him to get on "Come on!" "Ok I'm coming" he laughs
Once you're both on and you've made the bond with your ilu you tell it to take you to your very secret space. "Where are we going?" Neteyam asks "It's a beautiful place I go to when I need some alone time" you explain "Is it a good thing that you're showing me?" Neteyam asks
"Of course!" You say "I never bring anyone here" He just smiles as he holds tight on to your waist til you arrive
"Okay, don't be scared but it's a long swim in the water from here to the entrance of the cave" you warn him quietly "Ok.." he sighs
You hold onto him as your ilu goes deep in to the water About 2 minutes pass and you notice Neteyam is running out of breath Good thing you're almost there The moment you get there he gasps
You feel bad for taking him deep in the water but it was worth it
"This is beautiful.." he says admiring the plants and crystals surrounding him "I know" you smile "Here, sit down." You gesture at him pointing to a small piece of wood on the ground He goes and sits with you "Y/n, you know you're my best friend" he says looking in to your eyes "Oh? Thank you neteyam." You say to him slightly disappointed He looks at his legs in the water as he held your hand
You can tell by his body language he wants to be more than just best friends
"But.." "is that all I am?" You ask instantly regretting your words "Huh" is all you hear from him as your anxiety begins to rise up
"I mean.. we're very close and.." you cut yourself off
You stare at each other for a moment, your eyebrows furrowing before you look down to your feet
Neteyam then lifts your face to him "I'm sorry.." you apologize "No y/n.. i feel the same" he reassures you
You stay silent still trying to calm yourself down
You look up at him and notice he's already staring at you
You subconsciously go in for a kiss, both of you at the same time
His lips are soft and warm against yours, it felt weirdly comforting
Once your lips part you suddenly snap back to reality
"I'm sorry Neteyam.." you scoot back from his embrace "What?" "I.. I don't think I'm ready" "Don't apologize, it's not your fault princess." He reassures you once more
You feel a thousand emotions rushing through you Fear, nervousness, worry, happiness, excitement, love.
You don't know what to think
"We should go back, it's getting dark" you say looking down
"Yeah.." he tries holding your hand as you get up
You hold his hand back and notice him smiling This made you feel better
Once you're on your ilu he wraps his hands around your waist to stay in place and you hold his hands closer to you
When you make it above the water and almost at the shore you start chatting again
"Neteyam.." "Yes y/n?" "I'm sorry, I'm sorry for ruining our moment like that. I just got really nervous." You giggle at yourself
He smiles at you "y/n, it's okay. I understand you and I'm here for you."
Those words meant the world to you
You start getting shy again but thank eywa you had just arrived to the shore
You hop off your ilu and neteyam walks you to your home
"Neteyam, thank you for being here for me. You're the best person I've ever met"
Those words surprised him but he loved it
He kissed you on your cheek and you walk off to your home
