And here I was hoping this was some awful practical joke. I'm not sure if I'm glad it's not or if I want to hit Hudson when he walks in. A second look tells me he is fully expecting me to lash out at him, and he already looks beat. I mean, he was dead for a year, I should probably cut him some slack, at least until tomorrow. I'm not a horrible person despite what Hudson may tell people. I feel like I should be freaked out, I mean he was dead after all, but all I could think was that he might fall on his face any second. I leap up from my seat in his personal library and fade a few inches away from him. He looks like he was just drowned and trampled, a comparison he would hate. Instead of saying anything I catch an arm under his shoulder and guide him towards his couch. Once he's settled, I fade to the cafeteria and fill a stainless-steel thermos with blood. I don't know much, or anything, about this whole "coming back from the dead" crap but I do know he looked half-starved when I left him. I hurry back to his room but he isn't where I left him. Instead, he's on his bed, curled up under his comforter. For a second, I can see the big brother that made me a toy horse, who used to play with me whenever he got the chance. Before I get lost in the past, he shifts into a sitting position eyebrow raised in a 'what the heck are you doing here' sort of gesture and any sympathy I had manage to scrounge up to my jerk of a brother evacuates the premisis.

I am thrilled when Jaxon doesn't immediately interrogate me, or try sending me back to wherever it is I went. Though, not going to lie, it stung when he faded out of the room like I had the plague. I had just gotten to sleep when the wanker made a reappearance. I sit up and give him the full force of my annoyance in a single raised eyebrow. His expression hardens a bit but he just rolls his eyes and twists the lid off a thermos. OH, so that's where he went. Maybe I should give him more credit as a brother after all.
"I figured you were hungry; I mean you look like a drowned rat." I take it back, every kind thought I've had in the past minute about the tosser, it's all nullified. The first thing he says in our lovely family reunion, and he's insulting me. But he isn't wrong and can't help laughing.
"At the moment I think that's an insult to rats," He looks shocked at my response, and he can join the club. I just don't have the energy to try defending myself, not when it's something so true. He crosses the room and sets the blood on my nightstand. Too hungry to care about manners I grab my thermos and drain the contents while he talks.
"I have a few questions," He starts, "But I wasn't kidding, you look rough, we can talk tomorrow." It's not a question, that much is clear, also I can tell by his tone that 'a few questions' could mean a three-hour quiz. I settle back against my headboard, eyes closing of their own volition, and make a non-committal noise. I don't know when Jaxon leaves but eventually he does and I settle back into my pillow. I wait for a moment, expecting something to pop up and demand my attention, but if it does I'm to far gone to notice.

Sorry these chapters are so short, but tbh I don't know where I'm going with this yet so I'm procrastinating a bit.
