As I do every year for ONC, I start my novella with an introduction for my readers.
What prompt am I using?
I am using prompt fifteen, "Three women. Three secrets. Three tangled lives."
What fandom is/are used in the story?
This story is a crossover between Harry Potter and The Good Witch and an alternative universe for the two fandoms.
How am I using the prompt?
My use of the prompt is straightforward, with the three women being Hermione Granger and Pansy Parkinson from Harry Potter and Cassie Nightingale from Good Witch. Their lives become entangled because their secrets interconnect with each other. Anything else I say would be definite spoilers for the story I want to tell with this novella.
Is there anything else of note?
This story is not epilogue compliant, but for those not familiar with the Harry Potter fandom, that means for this alternative universe, the epilogue doesn't end up happening. When I ship, I do lean towards Draco/Hermione. This isn't a promise to those who like said pairing that it will end up being an endgame for this story, but more of a warning for those who don't like the ship that this story may head in that direction.
Later in the introduction, I will provide fans of The Good Witch with a timeline they can refer back to. This is partly because The Good Witch series has two contradictory timelines, one for the movies and one for the television. The result is a twelve-year difference between when a character would have been born in the movies and when they would have been born in the television series. Changes have also been made to help the story fit in with the Harry Potter timeline for this story. For this story, Middleton is also a town in England rather than the United States.
Outside of that, anything else would be a spoiler for the story.
What is the timeline for certain The Good Witch events for those who know the fandom?
- 1960, October 24 - Cassie is born.
- 1972-73 - Cassie and Regulus' first year at Hogwarts.
- 1979-80 - Brandon Randall is born. (Meaning he'd turn twelve in Harry's first year or the summer after.)
- 1982-83 - Lori Randall is born. (Meaning she'd turn nine in Harry's first year or the summer after.)
- 1998 - Cassie arrives in Middleton, making the time Brandon turns 18 97/98 school year or the summer after, and Lori would turn fifteen during this time frame.
