"Hit it!" Loki shouted and you threw a ball of energy to a training doll. It exploded immediately. "Is that all your got? It almost escaped with his life." He laughed.

You were breathing heavily. "I don't really intend to start killing people you know."

"You say that because you haven't lived in Asgard yet. Things there are different."

"Yes but-"

"Y/n, if a battle occurs no one is going to show mercy. It's kill or be killed back there." He was very serious, his tone quite worried. He was worried that you might get hurt on Asgard.

But why?

You had fought before. You had been in battles and missions before. Sure on Asgard things would be a bit more violent but you were sure that you could handle them.

You wanted to read his mind but you were sure he would block you in no time. Your powers might be back, but they were still a bit weak. Enough for Loki to be able to block you from entering his mind if he wanted. And you were sure he did. He was a very privet person, even with you some times.

"Is there more to it?" You asked as you moved closer to Loki, still trying to catch your breath.

"What?" He asked in confusion.

"You know I can fight. You've seen me. You taught me how to do it. So why are you suddenly so worried? I understand that things on Asgard are not going to be like they are here but I assure you I can take care of myself. So what is it? Why don't you trust me on that?"

"It's not that I don't trust you." He doesn't look at you. His eyes are stuck on the floor.

"Loki just say it!" You are a bit steep and you regretted your tone immediately.

"I am not quite sure that you are as strong as you think anymore Y/n."

Silence filled the space between you very quickly. But not the good kind. Not the one that made you feel good and safe. This was silence filled with tension that made you want to run away.

But if course this was not an option.

"What exactly do you mean by that?" You finally asked. Loki still wasn't looking at you.

"I mean that..." He hesitates. "That while Frey was there...You had some kind of protection. And now-"

"Now I'm weak and unprotected?" You finished his sentence for him. "So because Frey is gone you think that I can no longer protect myself? You think that I am not as strong as she is?"

"Y/n, I-" Loki tried to find the right words but there weren't any. He had been quite clear already.

"No, I get it." You say and turn around, heading towards your bag.

Loki didn't say anything. He let you take your stuff and walk away. Deep down you were hoping that he would stop you, maybe even apologize. Or at least tell you that he would help you improve. Or something like that anyway.

You needed him to come after you. To say that he didn't mean what he said. To take you into his arms and you could forget about the whole thing.

But he didn't.

...

You took a long and much needed shower the moment you entered your room. You possibly spent a whole hour in there, letting the hot water fall on top of your head, hoping that it would take with it every worry and sense of anger that you had.

You kept repeating Loki's words in your head. For a moment you thought that maybe he was right. The truth was that you did feel weaker after Frey left but that didn't mean that you wouldn't get as strong again, stronger even. You were sure that you could do it, so why wasn't he? Why did he doubt you so much?
