the smoggy air clings to my skin like a bad smell, making my leggings and cloak suddenly feel to thick for the wether. i bite back the urge to clutch onto Mandos hand as we stride through the streets. this place had always scared me- it was a country nutorious for its crimes and nightlife. i guess the only place fitting enough for Greef. i draw in a tight breath and step ever closer to Mando. we still hadnt talked about the nightmare and im thankful for it. for all of it. im thankful for his reluctance of bringing it up and im thankful for him being there for me.
we cross the street into a stingy bar,lit by a singular light swinging mindlessly above us. my hand subconsciously twitches over my sabers and rests atop the hilt. we make our way across the bar- me stealing glances at Mando as we go until we come to a small booth where the one and only Greef is sat. he glances up at us, his eyes lingering on me before his mouth breaks into a wide grin ,"Mando!" he coos, "what can i do for you?" his eyes flick back to me again as he pats the seat beside me, "you got a name, Doll?" he asks with out giving , Mando a chance to answer his previous statement.
i can't stop the disgust as it curls my lips into a frown, "Greef, as dashing as your reputation says you are, I'm Y/N." i hesitate slightly as i thrust out my hand for him to shake, "y/n Koon." using my old Masters name was an old trick. one i had not used since the clone wars but admittedly it felt nice.
my real name was of unimportance- born to a nameless mother and unknown father. the only thing either of them gave me was my first name. then Master Koon saved me. he is as much my father as anyone could be. he.. was as much my father. a chill shudders down my spine and i have to roll back my shoulders to loosen the muscles, "i assume you refer to powerful Jedi Plo Koon." a well educaed man. i smile lightly and slip into the seat beside me. im consciously aware of Mando's eyes on me despite not being able to see his face. its almost like hes eager to learn more about me. i shake away the thought, we've barely knowing eachother for longer then two weeks and he has made it clear he loves noone but the child.
Speaking of, i glance at the white bed floating behind us and check to make sure its ok. once satisfied, i turn back to the conversation, "well." greef smirks, "for you Mando, and of course the lady, i have my finest job. should be enough to keep you going for a few weeks. thoughi couldmake other offers for the lady if your really desperate." his hand brushes my thigh to confirm my suspicians on what he means.
"E chu ta! May spice salt your wounds. You disgusting nerf hurder." i scoff snatching my leg away from his hand and yanking free my saber. i ignite the blade and hold it close to his bare neck, "you revolting. creature. give us the fob and we will be on our way." he gives a smile that makes my skin crawl, "fiesty. where did you find this one Mando?" i glance at Mando who cocks his head at the spectacle, "gar copikla tion'tuur gar kaden." he mutters so quietly i almost miss it. Instantly , A blush colours my cheeks. i suddenly feel foolish; like I'm once again a clueless padawan. i de-ignite my saber and retake my seat. i turn and open up the childs carrier. his face beams up at me as he scrabbles with his hands to grab my face.
i trace the shell of his ear and smile softly-a much esier task then facing the mandalorian after his statement. i dont want to think of what he mens by it. to many years as a Jedi have numbed me to reading emotions. Even after staying with the Mandalorian for over a week I still struggle to read him.
i take the chance to study the force for threats. There is nothing. Yes, Greef is a disgusting nerf herder but as far as I can sense he poses no immediate threat.
"We'll take the fob and go." The Mandalorian mutters, snatching the metal from Greefs outstretched palm. I could be reading the air wrong but... it's almost like the Mandolorian is jealous.I sneak a glance at him as he plants his palms flush against the table and pushes out of his chair, "come on, y/n." He drawls on my name, putting a slight emphasis that makes my heart flutter.
I haven't felt like this since Wolffe. Kriff, out of anyone that could make my shit up heart flutter it had to be the Mandalorian. The one person who I'm sure will turn me in the second I look away.
