CHAPTER FOUR- THE GOODBYE

ARJUN'S POV

As Saanjh's body lay lifeless on the hospital bed I was devastated, as all I could think of was that it wasn't true,that it was just a dream, my heart was aching so much,that I felt it might just rip open inside me, suddenly I felt someone's hand on my shoulders“Arjun Beta, Dr Zoya needs you in her office” my eyes were bloodshot at this point, a tear had refused to spill “Ma ,it's all a dream right ”she looked at me sadly, and then she hugged me tightly “ it's going to be okay Beta,okay” I just shook my head, I got up and headed to Dr Zoya's office.

“Arjun, did Saanjh have any last wishes” I raised my head looking at her confused “ I meant did she ever make any demands to you about if something was to happen to her” I thought about it and a flashback came to me......

FLASHBACK
“Arjun, I just thought of something ” Saanjh said while on the bed with Arjun who was busy on his laptop “And what might that be Meri jaan” Saanjh noticed that Arjun was paying more attention to his laptop than her, so she did the first thing that came to her mind, she grabbed the laptop and kept it on the the lightstand by the bed “This is not acceptable Arjun, you're back home you belong to me alone, home is all to me,and work is all for you okay” Arjun looked at his wife and he smiled “ okay Meri jaan I've heard your complaint, no work at home when am with you okay” she smiled back at Arjun.He then laid his head on Saanjh's laps “ so Meri jaan, What was it you thought off” she wrapped her hands around my face and smiled “ I was thinking you see, if something was to happen to me,Godforbids,I've made a decision ” Arjun quickly raised from her laps “ Where are you getting this thoughts from?” she looked at me and cupped my face with her right hand “ I know you must be worried, but am okay Arjun, it's just that I went to the the hospital this morning for my regular checkups with Dr Zoya,when I noticed something ” Arjun became more attentive to his wife “ it had to do with organ donor patients, who where awaiting a miracle to happen, you see there was a long list of awaiting patients and little have been helped in this case ” Arjun still did not get where his wife was going with the conversation “ So what was your take on it ” Arjun asked her, “ I would love to donate my heart to someone who needs it,if anything were to happen to me Arjun” Arjun looked at his wife in disbelieve “ No” he said “ But why Arjun” she looked back at him, noticing he was no longer comfortable with the conversation “ Arjun my love” she turned his face towards her, looking into his eyes “ It's a dream of mine Arjun, that I could help one person,within those people that are at the verge of death” Arjun grabbed onto both her hands “ but why do you want to do that, Did Dr Zoya put this in your head?” Arjun asked her, she smiled and said “ No Arjun. It would be as though, I continued to live even after I was dead” Arjun saw in her eyes how determined and happy she was, saying it “ And also,I would fulfil my promise to you Arjun” she replied “ What promise?” she looked at me and smiled again “ The promise of never leaving your side, no matter what, my heart will keep beating for you, promise me you will do that for me” I shook my head at her saying (Yes)and then she pecked me on the lips...........
                   End of flashback

“She wanted to donate her heart” I sighed “ I don't get it Mr Malhotra ” she seemed confused “Saanjh wanted to donate her heart, to those who needed a transplant, that was a wish of her, if something were to happen to her” I breathed in and out silently “ I promised her I would fulfil that wish of hers, so Dr Zoya do the necessary things you have to do ,I have a wife to cremate” I stood and I walked out of her office......

As Saanjh's body laid on the woods about to be cremated, as I held the fire which was going to consume the love of my life and turn her completely to ashes,I still could not believe that the woman who meant the world to me was gone in a blink,my daughters would never know what a mother's love is. I was broken inside ,I came close to her and kissed her forehead “ Goodbye, my love ” and I lit the woods on fire. I stood and watched as the fire consumed her as she laid peacefully and calm as if she was only asleep.........

I was back home and I was in Anahita and Amyra's room. As I held them both in my arms I kissed both their foreheads “ Your mama would have loved you so dearly my princesses, but she won't be able to do that,I'll give both of you the love of a father and a mother,you won't even feel as though she wasn't here with you.I will love both of you endlessly ” for the first time,they both opened there eyes as though they heard me “ Your mama was the love of my life you see, she was the sweetest, loving, caring and strongest woman,I've met.She fought for you both and alongside me” as I stared at Saanjh's picture which I had asked to be placed in the babies nursery

All the flash back of her smiles and words, flooded right before my eyes,and It was as if I could see her, she sat by our bed and she kissed my forehead,as I opened my eyes I saw her “ Saanjh ” I called out her name, and she smiled and laid on my chest “ Arjun my love” she rested her hands on my shoulders and she looked at me “ You look sleep deprived ” all I did was stare at her “ You are right here with me,Is it not? I knew it was all a dream Saanjh, I knew you would never leave me ” as I cupped her face with my hands she smiled and leaned into the touch “ You have to take care of yourself and our daughters Arjun, and I never left you,I'll always be right by your side no matter what, I want you to remember that” she kissed me on the cheeks and said “Its okay to cry now my love. Goodbye Meri jaan” she smiled at me, and then she vanished, I screamed out her name “ Saanjh!” that was when I woke from the dream, realizing I was only dreaming. A tear escaped my eyes, I couldn't hold it anymore, I cried for my love, my broken heart and my daughters. That was the first time I cried since Saanjh died. That was when I realized I would do everything in my power to care for them. Saanjh has left me forever, but she will always live in my heart. Goodbye.....................

This isn't Goodbye, but just the beginning for Arjun.He has no idea what his fate had installed for him. He might have said goodbye, but it isn't forever.Saanjh might have left but her heart continued to beat somewhere............
