Chapter One- In the Beginning

I met her during first year orientation. We were placed in the same class. To tell the truth I thought she was rather plain compared to the 'prettier' girls in my high school class. I got to know her name during introductions and that was it. Nothing more to do with her. Even though we saw each other everyday we were strangers until we managed to partner up during a Science project.

After that we became close, she was the best friend I could ask for. She was a hyperactive, chattering ball of energy. Her very presence made you feel tired. In a good way. For years she was my confidante, therapist and teacher. She was also my provider, as whenever I didn't have the money to buy lunch she would be there with a sandwich and a smile ready for me.

It was no shock to any of our friends that we began dating after that. I fell in love with her and she with me. Even the teacher called us cute at one point. We were completely compatible. We both enjoyed many of the same things, had the same friends and could relate on so many different things.

And then one day I screwed up. During our final year of school I was in some classes with a friend of hers who kept flirting with me. She was pretty cute and my ego was blowing up. Eventually we hung back a few minutes. I honestly don't know how but we ended up against the wall making out until I heard footsteps outside the doorway and I turned around.

I still remember her expression as she walked in on me. She looked mortified, then a look of pure rage appeared, then finally a blank expression. I think that was when it finally hit me that I was screwed. Her eyes were so blank, so void of all expression. She looked directly at me and then turned away.

I pushed away the girl and hurried to catch her.
"Wait, its not..."

"Its not what its looks like. It was a mistake. It didn't mean anything I swear," she mocked as she turned around and looked at me with dead eyes and a blank expression.

I stopped dead in my tracks and shut up. That was exactly what I was about to say.

"Why so quiet? Aren't you going to complete that sentence?"

She leaned to the left and looked behind me at the other girl. "Aren't you a great friend, Cassidy? Moving in on somebody who was already taken? I guess those rumours do have some true to them, don't they?"

"I..."

"Shut up." She cut her off. "I really don't care what nonsense explanation you'll be giving me. I saw what I saw."

She stepped back and looked directly at me once more. She was so...emotionless. It was like all her personality disappeared in one moment.

"You disappoint me. Starting tomorrow please don't be anywhere near my presence."

And with that she turned and strolled away. Yes, strolled. Like she was taking a leisurely walk in the park.

That person was not the girl I feel in love with. What had I done?

Sooo hey lol. First story whohoo. This was born out of utter boredom. Its going to be a short story and if people think its good maybe I'll continue writing more stuff.
So yea.
