Sorry, as early as now.

They got ready for the hike. It was part of their bucket list— see the Sea of Clouds in Sagada. Both of them were excited and thrilled. As free-spirited people, this was a dream. Being in a mountainous province and having an adventure. The road to Sagada was not easy so they want to make the most of their stay.

Reese and Anton double-checked their things as they were gonna camp. They wanted to see the clouds early in the morning so they decided to hike in the afternoon, camp at night, and wake up early.

"Nagdala ka ba ng insect repellent?" Reese asked.

"Yup! It's here."

"Okay, alam mo naman how much I hate bugs."

"You like nature and the outside. Ikaw pa may gusto nitong camping and you're afraid of bugs?"

"I said hate, hindi ko naman sinabi na I'm afraid of them. They just feel dirty."

"Whatever you say, babe."

He got smacked by Reese and he ran towards the door to dodge more of her punches.

"Let's go na! Wag mo na ako awayin."

This is the closest I can be to you, Anton thought. Being able to see the sea of clouds. You loved it here, Reese.

It's been three years since the day he lost his love.

Three years since he saw the heart monitor in her hospital room flatline.

She flatlined.

"Reese, magpacheck-up na kaya tayo? Parang ang tagal na yang ubo mo."

"I'm okay. Wag na. Alam mo naman na minsan lang ako nagkakasakit pero kung inuubo ako, matagal din mawala."

And he brushed it off. He believed her. And that was his biggest regret. If only he forced her. Baka nagawan pa ng paraan.

If only he wasn't too late.

He looked at the polaroid picture they had in the same exact spot he was in. Sagada, you will be beautiful, he thought. They were smiling and he remembered that they had the greatest time journeying to see the sea of clouds.

But right now, he was alone.

He was alone so he shouted. He screamed and cried. He screamed, hoping to scream the pain away. Hoping that he was loud enough to wake up from this nightmare. Hoping that his Reese would wake him up.

But minutes passed and there was nothing. No one.

So he took a deep breath.

I'm coming, Mahal. Wait for me.

And he let go.
