The house was filled with prosperity bowls, statues, food, colors– the curtains are in 4 different colors even! Risa saw on Facebook that the lucky colors would be Green, Blue, Purple, and Pink so she bought curtains of each color and put them together. The windows literally have the colors of puto bungbong.
Between the both of them, Risa is the very superstitious one. Tonio on the other hand is there to make a mess of the things Risa is doing. In the past 3 hours, Risa had slapped away his hand from the dining table 5 times.
"Mamaya na nga! Hindi pa complete eh!"
"Eh, mahal.. Nagugutom ako eh."
"Kumuha ka sa kusina! Wag diyan!"
Rather than complaining and facing the lioness, he complied. Minutes later and while waiting for the final preparations to be finished, Tonio got bored. He sat down in the living room and looked at the Christmas Tree and boy did he have a bright idea and gift for his wife.

"Mahal, picture na tayo!" Risa said as she finally finished preparing and wanted to take a selfie in front of the dinner table. But she couldn't find her husband anywhere until, "Oh my god! Antonio! What the hell!" Risa exclaimed.
Tonio was sitting under the tree, A big red bow in the middle of his chest and a matching red stands hat atop his head completed the look.
He waited, expectant and excited to see her face light up with him under the Christmas tree. He wanted to make his wife smile. The Holidays were supposed to make her feel relaxed but she became so busy with the preparations.
She stopped dead, spotting him wrapped up under the tree, and then she burst into laughter. She didn't have a pretty laugh either, it was loud and obnoxious, one of the best things about her.
She motioned to him, "Did you really put a bow around yourself?"
"Oo. Gift ko sarili ko sa'yo." He said and winked.
She laughed again and it was a relief to him, "Jusko naman, Hon. Kung ano-ano pumapasok sa isip mo na kalokohan talaga."
"At least napatawa kita, diba? What if you come here and unwrap your gift?" Tonio said and winked.
"Is that euphemism I sense?" She said as she made her way around the ribbon. She lifted two fingers mimicking a walk on his chest on the way to the bow to untie it. It didn't take 10 seconds for him to be fully free from the ribbon– I mean, he was tying himself so of course it won't be proper.
"Maybe."
Tonio swallowed back his anticipation as she leaned in to capture his mouth for a kiss. Her tongue opened his mouth more, deepening the kiss, so that the only sound he could hear were the sounds of heavy and wet kisses mixed with their deepening breaths.
Risa smirked against his mouth, clearly enjoying it and she straddled him, sinking down so that she sat right on top of him.
"I think this is going to be a really nice present." She said when her lips left his to explore his neck.
"Hon, I love you taking control right now but pwede ba sa sofa tayo? Masakit sa katawan kapag dito sa floor." Tonio requested.
And so they did. They made love in the living room on New Year's Eve, 2 hours away from 12 AM. The food on the table was left to be cold and forgotten for a few minutes.

"Happy New Year, Hon."
"Happy New Year, My Risa."
"Hopefully we'll be 3 na next New Year's Eve, Hon."
