"Alright, let's double check. Name 'em and I'll check the list." Saige spoke, a small notepad in her left hand. Ezekiel cleared his throat. "Okay so we have: four Magic Materia those being 'Cure' , 'Lightning', 'Ice' and 'Barrier' ; then we have one Support Materia; two Summons, Shiva and what I remember to be Ranuh-" "Ramuh, 'Zeke" Saige interrupted. "Yes that, moving on, we also have three Independent Materia, which I cannot identify and two Command Materia, also unidentified." Ezekiel concluded. "Alright, everything is in order." Saige added, closing the notepad, placing it in her bag. The boy crossed his arms. "I'm surprised you didn't correct me when I said 'Cure' instead of 'Heal' materia." "Well they are kinda the same thing, so." Saige stated. "I guess it kinda is." Ezekiel added, sitting on a bed located in the right side of a small room, Saige laying down on the left bed. The young 'couple' were resting on a hotel room, a small en-suite, with two twin beds, both had light grey covers and white sheets, along with light grey pillows, two drawers, both placed in front of each bed with two mirrors on top of them, laying vertically, on the left one there was a phone, presumably to call for service. There was a TV stuck in the wall right in the middle of the drawers, which Ezekiel had turned on moments ago. The young woman picked a book from a small shelf located on her small bedside table, continuing her reading, while the boy kept his eyes on the screen. "Y'know, we should take an opportunity to take a shower or something." Ezekiel said. "Do you have any other clothes?" Saige questioned, keeping her eyes on the book. "No, but we could go buy some." The boy suggested. "''Zeke you know we can't go around showing our faces. We are wanted, remember?" The girl remarked. "I know, but it has been literal months since I last took a shower, and we know have a bathroom right here with a shower that is available for us to use." He argued. "I feel disgusted by the fact that I haven't cleaned my body-" "And I will throw up if you finish that sentence." "Why? I'm just saying that I feel repulsed by my own body." He continued. Saige sighed. "Listen, I get it, we haven't been focusing that much on our personal hygiene, and believe in me I also hate it. But right now we are in a tough situation, just wait until we get definitely on the clear and then we'll lay off for some time." The girl explained. Ezekiel groaned. "Fine. Whatever floats your boat miss." "Don't start 'Zeke." He ignored his friend and got under the covers. 'Well since I can't practice basic hygiene I'll just sleep then." Saige rolled her eyes. "Why are you like this." " 'Cause that's how my mom raised me." Ezekiel spat, facing the right side of the room, getting comfortable. Saige closed her book, getting up from her bed to close the window, then laying under the covers. Both turned their lights off, leaving the TV to give some light to the room. Ezekiel lowered the volume of the machine and drifted of to sleep. Saige turned to her left side, facing a small digital clock on top of her bedside table. '23:07h' it read, meaning it was 11 PM. Her eyes slowly got heavier, the tiredness taking over her body, after some time, she ended up falling asleep.
...
Everything was blank, white. Saige was laying on a bed of flowers in the emptiness that existed in that place. Her eyes that were closed shut, finally open. She sat up looking around. She sighs. "Ah, finally awake I see!" A voice soothed. "I was wondering how long would it take you to open those eyes of yours." Saige took a deep breath. "It's been a while." "Yes, I haven't seen you since you left Midgar years ago." the mysterious voice explained. The voice was smooth, it had a soft yet bubbly tone to it. "Yeah, I know. I regret going on that mission without saying a proper goodbye to you." Saige spoke. "I miss you a lot." The voice chuckled. "Awn, I miss you too!" Saige looked down, gazing upon her hands. Steps could be heard, the voice, getting louder, as if getting closer to the white-haired girl. "Are you okay? Have you been in any trouble?" it asked. "It's been... chaotic." Saige replied. "I wanna go home, I wanna see my mom. I wanna see Cloud, Tifa, Barret, little Marlene and Denzel!" She continued. "I wanna see you."
"You can't."
The sweet voice was replaced by a deeper and darker one. Saige's eyes were wide open, her senses being on high alert. "What does that mean?? Who's this?!" She shouted, getting up, closing her fists. "Oh? You don't remember me? How disappointing." The white background was replaced by pure darkness. The flowers surrounding Saige that once radiated life were now rotten and ruined. Steps could be heard, getting closer to the female. "Don't get any closer!" She demanded. "It's sad to see you were able to get rid of the Geostigma. You were quite the new addition to the family." Saige raised a brow. "W-What are you talking about? Who are you?!" The voice chuckled. Saige turned around to see a silhouette that had a pair of green glowing eyes getting closer to her. She gasped. "N-No... it can't be-" The figure teleported infront of the girl, covering her face. Saige yelled, her vision becoming pitch black, unable to breathe.
"I'm coming for you, Saige."
...
Saige sits up in a violent motion, placing her right hand on her chest trying to catch her breath, sweat dripping down her face. Her eyes wandered around the room trying to calm down, eventually gaining control of her breath. She peeked to her left, to see her friend sleeping peacefully, curled up under the sheets. She looked at the digital clock next to her. '02:38h'. The girl sighs and slowly gets up from the bed, making her way to the juliet balcony next to her bed. She opens the window and steps closer, leaning in the railing letting the cold breeze make contact with her skin. She took a glimpse of the bright full moon above her. "Why are you up at this hour?" Saige turned around to see Ezekiel holding a cup of water. "Was it one of those nightmares?" he handled the cup to his friend, who held it carefully, taking a sip of water. "Yeah..." "What was it this time?" the boy questioned. "I was...laying on this flower bed, everything was blank, nothing else around. I was having a conversation with a sweet voice, who belongs to someone who is very important to me." Saige explained while the boy listened. "Suddenly, the voice turned darker and deep, my surroundings became pure darkness." she took another sip of water. "The voice was somehow familiar, but I couldn't recognize it. It only said nonsense. But, when almost over..." she paused. "yes...?" Ezekiel spoke, trying to make his friend continue." "I saw a pair of green eyes, looking down at me. Before waking up, the voice said it was coming for me." She said, finishing her story. Ezekiel stood beside her. "Do you know who it might be? Trying to contact you through your dreams?" The boy questioned. "I..think I know who might be...but it wouldn't make any sense to be him." "Who are you thinking?" Saige took a deep breath. "I think it's Se-" Saige was cut by an agonizing ache on her forehead. She squated down and placed her hand on her head, trying to repress the pain. Ezekiel kneeled down next to the girl. "Are you alright?" He asked, the girl wouldn't respond, as if she was deaf, or was zoning out. "Saige??" he kept calling her but no response coming from the girl. Saige was static, staring at the ground, trying to resist the temptation to give in to the voice that called her on her mind.
"Don't try to resist. Just give in, Saige." The male voice insisted. "Don't fight it."
The young woman was close to faint due to the pressure of the pain, until she heard a soothing voice calling for her.
"Saige..."
"SAIGE ARE YOU HEARING ME!?" Ezekiel yells trying to bring his friend back from her own world. The girl looks at Ezekiel. "Why are you screaming? It's almost 3 am, you're going to wake people up!" she shouted, looking at the boy. "Well I was calling you but you wouldn't respond! Like your mind went to the moon and back without a warning." he replied. "Are you feeling okay now? You need an aspirin?" he calmly inquired. Saige shook her head 'no' . "I'm feeling better, thanks." she stated, slowly getting up from the ground. Ezekiel stood there observing his friend. The girl laid back down in her bed, covering her eyes with her hands. "You didn't finish." "Finish what?" she asked. "Who was it? That was going after you? Is it the same person the reason that made you zone out back there?" Ezekiel explained, closing the window and then sitting on the edge of his bed. The girl got under the covers. "Let's leave this conversation for another time. I'm exhausted right now and I need to try and get a functional sleep schedule." Saige insisted, leaving the boy curious and somehow anxious to know the response to his questions. "Alright, whatever suits you best." he said, curling up on the bed. Ezekiel ended up falling asleep, while Saige stared at the digital clock. Before her eyes could fully shut, she heard the sweet voice once again.
"I wish you good luck, my dear friend."
