I tugged at the sleeves of Sapnaps sweatshirt that I was wearing as we all sat in the uncomfortable lobby chairs. My heart was beating so loudly I swear everyone could hear it, "Do you guys think she'll be okay?" My voice cracked, I searched for Sapnaps hand and was soon greeted by our fingers latching to one another's.
"She has to be." George replied, his voice low and broken, much like mine.
"Family of Kiara Lynn?" A man asked from the doorway. The four of us stood up and walked over to him, my hand not daring to let go of Sapnaps. Every couple seconds he would give my hand a squeeze and although I wouldn't return the gesture he knew it was helping.
"That's us." Dream spoke up when he realized the rest of us couldn't.
"Please follow me." He instructed. We followed close behind as he lead us to a hospital room. Kiara was hooked up to tubes and machines, only now she looked more like her. The blue tone on her lips was back to her natural pink, her tanned skin was back to normal instead of pale.
"Oh my god..." I whispered under my breath, pushing past the doctor and sitting next to her, grabbing her hand in mine, "Please say she's not..."
"Our first concern was getting her body temperature regulated and back to normal. Kiara suffered some damage to the brain due to the lack of oxygen, she is alive," The doctor gave me a weak smile and I tried my best to return it, "She slipped into a coma, we're still seeing brain activity so she's not considered brain dead."
"Is she going to wake up?" My brothers voice broke my heart. With tears swelling in his eyes he stood on the opposite side of my best friend, grabbing her other hand in his while his thumb rubbed circles on her skin.
"We have high hopes she will, we just don't know when." The doctor said, "It could last a few days...few weeks..months even. I had something quite similar to this happen and the person woke up after a few weeks and made a full recovery."
"You should call her parents." Sapnap whispered to me and I shook my head slowly.
"She doesn't have any family Sapnap...it's just me." Everyone's face fell at my words. Kiara hadn't been dealt the best deck of cards, her mom and dad died in a car accident when she was six. Her grandparent died before she was even born so it was quite literally just me and her, "What do we do?"
"I'll stay with her tonight, you guys go home and rest. I don't want her to be alone." George spoke up, the light reflecting the tears in his eyes. My heart ached seeing my brother in this state, I've never seen him like this before.
I nodded my head and walked over to him, engulfing him in a hug, "Thank you for loving her." I whispered to him.
"Thank you for bringing her to me." He whispered back. Once I let go Sapnaps hand rested on the small of my back and lead me out of the room.
With every step I took I fought the urge to cry. I needed to be strong, not only for me, but for her, for everyone. If I lost hope then they would too and I couldn't let that happen, "She's going to wake up." I stated once we got into the car. Sapnap drove and I sat passenger, Dream accepting the backseat.
"I know." Dream squeezed my shoulder in a comforting way.

I sat on the bathroom floor with the water running but didn't have the energy to actually shower. My body was exhausted from screaming and panicking earlier today, from crying my eyes out behind the locked bathroom door. A gentle knock was placed on the door and I peeked my head up, wiping the tears away quickly. I went to speak but my voice gave way.
"You've been in there for awhile, Y/n, are you okay?" Sapnaps voice asked. I didn't respond, knowing that if I did he'd know I had been crying this entire time instead of showering, "Y/n?" He repeated.
