You had this chilling feelling that whoever you've seen was familiar, too familiar for your liking but you couldn't put your finger on it. You ended up worring your cousin a lot over that moment, you'll have to think of something to make up for it. Anyways you weren't that knowledgable when it came to football facts and players so how could an ad about a player catch your attention so fast and get you so worked up.
When your mind thought of him you wanted to laugh in mock desperatiom, there's no way that boy took over too much of your mind you started to see things. But you just wanted to be sure, that maybe your eyes played tricks with you so when you typed his name in the google search bar your eyes widened in shock from the amount of articles you've found. Without a second thought you started clicking every one of them, not stopping till the last one, hoping that this was all just a joke.
Your phone was going to crack from the pressure you put on it. Each article was talking about one thing only, which brought you a fury of emotions:
"Riku Hano: Germany's new football prodigy"
That was your friend's name.
So it was true.
He became a world renowned football player at what, just 16 years old? and what were you doing, moping around and questioning your entire existence? He was out there playing without a care, he definitely forgot about you, about your dream, about how you two were going to change the football world together and how he left you alone, even having the audacity to tell you about his departure a few days before to make himself feel better. That bastard. How selfish. You wanted to pound his face on the ground.
You've made your decision. Now that you were sure that he forgot about you, it was about damn time that you've picked yourself up from your pathetic state. How pathetic, how fucking pathetic you were. You held back seven years of your football life, your first passion and your temptations to just play with a ball because you were hoping he'll come back and everything will be like before. You were ten for god's sake, of course he'll forget something insignifiant from almost seven years ago. That promise was a shitty excuse, a hope for the future for you to cling to. But he won't come, it's clear and it's sad that just now you've come to terms on it.
You would do whatever it takes to beat Hano and take his spotlight, to see him cowering amd crying before you as you've won the final match between you. That's why the next day you didn't hesitate in heading towards Reo's direction, who was having a conversation with Nagi outside in the school yard.
You stood in front of the two for a second to gain their attention and uttered the words that little 10 year old you would rather die than have them come out of your mouth.
"I wanna play football."Author's additional time!
