EMANUEL AND SONYA arrived at the hotel where the party took place and held. People were occupying most of the tables covered with fine and tidy white clothes, as well were the chairs. The buffet tables sprawled around the either side of the function room, making people divided properly when dinner would be commenced. The function room was more contemporary in designs where modern collaborated with the classic and gothic style, resulting in such wonderful and mesmerizing attractions — which made the visitors feel fascinated. There were eligsnt ceramic vases complimented with beautiful red roses and lilies of valley.

It wasn't an ordinary production and preparation for a simple birthday party. The perfect term was simply extravagant.

And as expected, the buffet tables were completely characterized by various dishes; German dishes, Italian food, with slight American food and moreover Asian cuisines —- like Filipino food and Chinese dishes. Korean dishes were never seemed to be at least. And the highlight amongst all the dishes from the buffet tables were the two "lechon baka" (spitted fire cow) and "lechon baboy" (spitted fire pig). And these dishes were Emanuel's favorite and he would be willing to take a risk just to have a nibble or a nip of it. Drinks were served delightfully to every table, and red wines and white wines were spotted everywhere. Nevertheless, the presence of beers and whiskey were glittering and enticing those alcoholic to come and have a taste of them.

The birthday party was for the daughter of Emanuel's friend and college colleague, Sebastian Wood. The girl was Cherry Mae Wood and it happened to be her eighteen birthday celebration. In the other old culture term, a debut birthday celebration —- once a young woman turned eighteen.

Emanuel and Sebastian became friends when they were in college. Emanuel took a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering — as he dreamed to manage a production room of a large food company in the country — which was his job now — it came true practically. Sebastian Wood, who was half American and half Asian, happened to study at the same university with Emanuel during their college days. To fulfill what his parents dreamed for him to be, Sebastian Wood took a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. Following what his parents demanded, Sebastian worked two years after he and Emanuel graduated at the largest beer company in the country.

Same situation with Emanuel, Sebastian worked as a plant manager of the largest beer company. He and Emanuel had the same dreams — and that was to manage a large operation of production department that provides goods and drinks to people.

Sebastian's daughter, the birthday celebrant, Cherry Mae Wood, was the young girl Emanuel dreamed to be his son's girlfriend and future wife to be. But James seemed to hostile and spiteful with the proportion Emanuel wanted his son to be. James once told him that Cherry Mae Wood was not a type of girl he assumed to be with as his wife for the rest of his life. Of course, James had witnessed how his mother took care of him and how Ludivina showed great compassion towards her son. Thus she was some kinda materialistic, but she fulfill her duty as a mother to James perfectly. And it made James want to find a woman to be his lifetime partner with a characteristic of his mother.

And how James profiled Cherry Mae Wood? To James, the girl would be a daily problem to him, not a happiness as a wife.

"How are you now companyero?" Sebastian greeted Emanuel with a friendly and welcoming hug. It didn't take long for him to spot Emanuel.

"It's nice to see you again companyero!" Emanuel responded with a return hug. And as he tapped his hand around Sebastian, he remembered what Sebastian asked him when he welcomed him abruptly. "I'm doing fine after that slight cardiac attack."

As his eyes trailed around the room, Emanuel spotted someone who looked familiar to him. Emanuel could not help himself from wondering why was that familiar person was here? And what was he doing here? He knew the face of the person but he forgot what the exact name. The person had been known due to the rumors that he and his wife were running a sort of business like hotels, clubs and resto bars, resorts and casino and also owned some popular fast food restaurant franchises. But what made that person controversial was the hidden agenda he had run through behind all his legal liabilities.
