SUNDAY AFTERNOON, matter how Emanuel refused and resisted James to come along and fetched his mother from the airport, James was way too persistent, giving Emanuel no chance and reason to resist. James had informed his mother that Emanuel was coming with him, practically and silently, Ludivina had wished that James would bring his father along with him to the airport. What separated them was a simple complication between them and James had witnessed it, and that was the reason why their decision to split their marriage was not valid to James.
James was not losing hope even if Sonya was already around as his dad's second and new wife.
"There she is, dad!" James hollered when he spotted his mother's familiar frame a few meters away at the arrival area of the international airport. He gently tugged and dragged his dad to where Ludivina was. "She wants to see you too that's why I'm taking you here." He mumbled while guiding Emanuel.
"I wonder what Sonya will think when she wakes up and finds that I wasn't there." Emanuel snorted in a very controlled voice while worrying about Sonya who was left alone in the house. But Emanuel himself was excited to see his ex-wife even it had been over three years —-- the last time they were together.
"Don't worry about mommy Sonya. I'll take care of her, dad. You know how I love mommy Sonya so much now. She needs me like the way she needs you." James bragged proudly under his chuckling tone. He had not ceased himself from smirking and smiling ever since they left the house.
And that statement James uttered sent a different meaning or description to Emmanuel. Emanuel mentally and mysteriously studied and reviewed what was James tried to ponder. The two of them, James and Sonya, seemed like or could be compared to cat and dog —-- from the previous days and weeks. It was undeniable and unsinkable the fact he had witnessed how James disliked Sonya, and so was Sonya on the other side. Then again let alone Sonya and James befriend each other, and it had begun when Sonya was suspended from her work. They had been sweeter as in so sweet that then, and they had never fought anymore.
"What do you mean she needs you like the way she needs me? I know how you loathe her ever since she becomes my wife." Emanuel couldn't help himself because it was mysterious to see James switching mood towards Sonya.
The thought came and flashed back inside his head when he told James about Sonya being sexually active. Which he added that James should be watching Sonya or else she would be sneaking out to find a random guy for temporary satisfaction. And to hear James telling him that Sonya needed him the same reason that Sonya needed him. What was James truly supposed to explain to Emanuel about her needs? A pang of nauseousness and culpability was wrenching every single decent bone in his body, as the thought of James would be giving Sonya the thing Emanuel could not afford to give at the moment.
"Sonya is jobless and you're sick, so I obligate myself to take the responsibility of taking care of her as much as I take care of you." James was trying to be logical and rational as he perceived the jealousy that enveloped his father's voice. He meant to mutter that reason because the jealousy in his dad's voice made him read his dad's mind.
A smug smile molded through Emanuel's face. He clicked his tongue while shaking his head to his appreciation for his son. "I'm glad you are learning to like Sonya more than ever now. She's a good woman, beautiful and gorgeous and very understanding and generous."
"I agree with you, dad." James snorted softly as he continued dragging his dad to where his mom was. "She is very generous and she is willing to give herself in order to make me happy—-"
"James, Emanuel!" Ludivina hollered from a few steps away from her son and ex-husband. And in an instance, she strolled ploddingly straight to James and Emanue at the corner l. "I can't believe I see you two after a very long time. How are you Manny? You look like you have lost a lot of weight." She commented while scanning her eyes through Emanuel's posture.
