Metal Sonic: Menace or Mislabeled?

Redemption

Sonic's Pov

We were fighting the Death Egg robot and to our surprise, nothing we were doing seemed to have any effect on it. I tried to encourage everyone to keep trying. "Come on guys, we got him right where we want him!"

"What battle are you fighting?!" Shadow yelled back at me. "We've been fighting this thing longer than any other of his creations and we haven't even made a dent on it! We're out-matched." I didn't want to admit it but Shadow had a valid point; we've made no progress on taking this thing down.

All of a sudden, a light blue streak came out of nowhere and charged right into the center of the giant robot. No damage was made, but we all were surprised to see the source of the attack; the returning Michael. I ran straight up to him. "Michael, great to see you buddy. Where have you been for the past year?"

I could tell that the year part caught him a little off guard, but he simply shook his head and said, "That doesn't matter right now. Eggman figured out how to use the Chaos Emeralds to make it even stronger. I think if you, me, and Shadow all charge at it at the same time at full speed, we might be able to free the emeralds."

I was pretty surprised to hear Egghead came up with a plan that worked, but I felt sure that Michael's idea would win us the fight. I told Shadow what we needed to do and he agreed to try it. We all three spin dashed as hard and as fast as we could right into the center of the robot's chest. It busted open and the Chaos Emeralds were free. Me and Shadow promptly went Super and to my surprise, so did Michael.

Between the three of us, we made short work of Eggbreath. He flew off, once again swearing his revenge. Everyone started cheering and I turned to Michael. "Take it all in, pal," I told him. "They're cheering for you. You saved them. You showed them where your loyalty lies."

He looked at me and simply said, "So this is what it feels like to be a hero? I think I like it."As everyone celebrated and welcomed  Michael back, I offered him to be officially part of the team. "Thanks for the offer," he said. "But I think it's time I left the fight and settled down. But if you ever need me, all you gotta do is call." I don't know what's next for him, but I'm sure he'll be fine.
