Woke up in the morning feelin' like P-Diddy...NOT!!! Well, I guess I did, if P-Diddy ever woke up having a wooden sword fall from a mantlepiece above his bed right into his ribcage, making him sit upright in complete pain and feeling like his ribs got smashed into his lungs. Seeing as that's what happened to wake me from my nightmare, you can tell today was gonna suck.

It has been a week since Father was admitted into the hospital, and Lucy and Will still hadn't spoken to me. They went out of their way to avoid me in the hallways and tried to never be in the same room as I was in. Which, of course, suited me just fine. It hurt as an older brother, sure, but I had too much on my mind to deal with them judging me for my actions in his room. It was a miracle I had gotten any sleep last night at all. My mind was constantly filled with how the hell I was going to take care of the rent and the food in the house to keep us alive. I even took double shift at the bar, doing the normal and late evening shows just to keep the money flow, and when I wasn't doing that, I was sitting on the windowsill in my room to air out my thoughts. Today I had a better plan, though. I was going to go in early so I could get a few more hours of practice and try to write a new song for our performance this afternoon, so I rushed down the stairs, grabbed a piece of toast and an aluminum tumbler full of orange juice, and before Bones could show up, I grabbed Shard and my skateboard and headed for High Voltage. The front doors loomed overhead, like two great gates of an ancient temple, the barbed wire designs carved into them like serpents, coiled around amongst their nest and preparing to defend themselves with their lives. The sign even looked ominous today, a post of gloom announcing my downfall to the world. I snuck into the front door slowly. Inside the front door was an elevator, which I would have usually taken to the main stage on the second floor. This day was a bit weird though. When I entered into the elevator, I saw a key in the emergency slot. I reached slowly towards the key.

Wait, I thought to myself, hesitating with my hand halfway to the key. You know that only the boss has a key to the elevator. This is his key, and if he knew you used it without permission or a good reason, you'll lose your job! Despite my deepened desire to turn the key, I avoided the temptation, took a deep breath, and looked away.

Just as I was about to press the button to head upstairs, I heard a loud screaming and the sound of a chainsaw revving up. "Well, that's the best reason I've ever heard!" I shouted as I twisted the key and ran through the now open door.
