"This is it," Hagrid said, coming to a halt, "The Leaky Cauldron. It's a famous place." He gestured to a small run-down pub.
"Why do muggles just walk right past here?" I asked Hagrid, looking around at the muggles not even batting an eye at the tiny, grubby-looking pub.
"Well, they can't see it, good ol' magic protects it from unwanted eyes if yer know what I mean?" I didn't but I smiled and nodded anyway, this was all a bit intimidating and I still wasn't sure I trusted this man whom I'd just met. He just seemed a bit mad, the kind of man you're warned to stay away from as a child but to be honest, anyone is better than the Dursleys. Before I know it, we are in the middle of an old england type tavern and whispers ripple around the room.
" Harry Potter"s and " Oh my Merlin "s are what I hear, not y/n Potters of course, my brother always seems to be better than me, I love him so but it's unfair really. Everyone seemed to know Hagrid as well,
"The usual, Hagrid?" The old barman asked,
"Can't Tom, I'm on Hogwarts business," Replied Hagrid, clapping his hands on mine and Harry's shoulders, I saw Harry's knees buckle.
"Good Lord," said the barman staring at Harry, no, it was Harry's scar actually, "is this-can it be-?" I couldn't believe it, it was like I wasn't there. My first thought wasn't, it's crazy, my brother's famous, it was, what about me, I can't even believe myself. I rushed out the back door then and there. I was trapped in a closed off alleyway, the place you'd expect to see a couple bins, but there wasn't, maybe wizards and witches don't need bins, there was just one wall surrounding me, it looked a bit old. After what felt like forever, Harry and Hagrid followed me out, Hagrid was saying something about a professor quinkle? Or maybe Quarrel, who knows.
"You okay y/n/n?" Asked Harry, "You left in a hurry." I felt a bit bad to be honest but, this is all a bit overwhelming, it's happening too fast.
"Yeah Haz, just needed fresh air, you know?" He nodded and turned to Hagrid,
"Three up ... Two across ..." Hagrid mumbled and tapped a brick on the wall. "Stand back guys!" Harry looked at me, I looked at him, I knew what he was thinking, I was thinking the same. That Hagrid has finally tipped over the edge, maybe he is as crazy as I thought originally. But then, the brick he had tapped with his umbrella quivered, then it wriggled, then the brick next to it, and the brick next to that one until there was a bunch of them making way for a archway in the middle of the wall. An archway even big enough for Hagrid. An archway leading onto a cobble stone street which twisted and turned out of sight. "Welcome," said Hagrid, "to Diagon Alley!" At first I thought he said diagonally but I registered the pause after. He grinned at our amazement. I felt Harry tap my shoulder and looked back in time to see the last brick returning to it's place, once again becoming a solid brick wall.Looking around I saw some really weird looking shops but the first one I saw was advertising cauldrons.
Cauldrons - All sizes - Copper, Brass, Pewter, Silver - Self-stirring - Collapsible said a sign hanging over the shop.
"Yeah you'll be needin' one," said Hagrid, "but we gotta get yer money first."I wished I was a horse or something, with eyes on the side of my head so that I could take in all the wonderful shops all around me. There were some people outside of shops advertising their goods but I wasn't really paying attention. A low, soft hooting came from a dark shop with a sign saying Eeylops Owl Emporium - Tawny, Screech, Barn, Brown and Snowy. Several kids our age, mostly boys, were staring longingly at a broomstick display. There were shops for everything on my list. Things you'd only imagine in your dreams. Potion bottles, wands, animal parts.
"Gringotts," said Hagrid. We had reached an ice-white building which towered over everything. Guarding it's entry were, wearing uniforms of red and gold... Elves? As if reading my mind, Hagrid said,
"Yeah, that's a goblin." They're about a head shorter than me, the one closest had a swarthy, clever, no scratch that, cunning face and a pointed beard. He bowed as we walked inside. A second pair of doors, silver, were now infront of us, they had words engraved in them:
