"Fresh fruit for sale"

"Delicious hot served food!"

"Tailor your winter dress for half price!"

Covering his ears,Elias sighed to himself. Why was the one day he decided to go to the city also happen to be the busiest?

Elias shoved passed people muttering prophanities under his breath, Knowing that no one was listening or could even hear him. Tripping over someone's foot he crashed into a small child and their mother. "Oh- Sorry!" Elias exclaimed, plastering a fake smile on his face. The woman picked up her child and smiled warmly at the young man.

"It's alright dear it's busy, I understand." she chuckled at him as the small child, a young looking girl waved towards him.

Finally managing to squeeze out of the crowd. Elias took a deep breath, checking his bag to make sure everything was still intact, and not stolen. Sighing, Elias asked to himself "Why on earth is it so busy today? What is going on?"

"Maybe because the winter sale is on?" Elias heard a high-pitched voice come from the left of him. Turning his head around he saw a petite girl with short brown hair, her body drowning in baggy overalls. She latched onto his left arm leaning into him slightly, her face was covered in sparkly makeup which made Elias want to throw up.

"Ah- Anita! How are you?" Caught off guard by his best friend, he quickly smiled towards her.

"Pretty bad if you ask me"- she sighed, her thick accent coming through–" But! Me and Keitha's Bakery are doing really well after we changed the menu. Oh! And we are engaged!" Anita looked up at Elias directing him towards her and Keithas bakery.

"YOU WHAT!! Why didn't you tell me?" Elias had only seen them last week! 'When did this happen?' he thought to himself.

As he listened to Anita rant about the date she and Keitha went on, he began to space out. Not taking in anything she said only wincing when Anita made grammar mistakes and asking her to repeat herself when her accent got a bit too strong.

Before Elias realised to himself what was going on, Anita had already ran in front of Elias and held the door of her bakery open for him. Elias groaned to himself, knowing for a fact that Anita would try and keep him in the bakery as long as she could so he could listen to her stories.

Once Elias stepped food into the bakery, Anita turned to him telling him that she would only be a second as she ran behind the counter.

"Oh! Elias, a shock to see you out of your cave," Anita's girlfrie- fiancee smirked towards Elias across the bakery. She was sitting at one of the tables, her legs man spreading, she looked to be reading the newspaper but Elias couldn't really tell. "We've been together for 5 years, thought i'd pop the question sooner or later,"

She told Elias a light smirk on her face. "God, you should have seen her, her smile had never been so bright," Keitha dreamingly went on, never looking up from the newspaper in her hand.

Keitha wore her hair in braids, long dark purple ones, She also wore denim overalls however hers seem to fit a lot better then Anitas.

Anita came running from behind the counter once more, holding a box and bouquet. "MERRY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!" Anita yelled, almost buzzing from the excitement.

"It's happy birthday Love, and I didn't know it was your birthday?" Keitha looked up at Elias after correcting her fiancee.

"Yeah actually it-" Elias was cut off before he could finish his sentence.

"HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!" Anita interrupted, her fiancee looked down trying to mask her smile. Anita was from a different city, Whitdale, about a 5 day walk from here, even if she was living here for five years she's still only getting adjusted.

Elias looked down at her forcing a fake laugh to come out his mouth. Don't get him wrong he absolutely adored his best friend however he found her quite annoying at times. "Thanks Anita," Elias gritted through a fake smile. Anitas smile seemed to reach her eyes, Elias had no clue how she was so genuinely happy all the time. She hugged Elias immediately, throwing him off guard. Elias hugged her back hesitantly and looked outside, it was starting to get dark and he knew he should head home soon.

"I've got to go now or else it'll be too dark for me to leave," Elias told Anita, smiling at her once more. "I'll see you in the next few weeks alright?" he asked Anita in which she responded with a curt nod.

Elias opened the door of the bakery, while hearing Anita say a short bye from behind him. Closing the door he stepped foot onto the street taking in a big gulp of air while doing so . He then proceeded to walk down the street towards the exit of the city.

He looked up into the sky, noticing small stars starting to form. Elias sighed looking back towards the ground watching his feet, he was so tired he could barely keep his eyes open. With one hand full of shopping and the other flowers, Elias began his journey home.

It was starting to get dark as Elias neared his home. His face losing the cherry grin he had only an hour ago. He could see his house now, a small wooden home painted in light blues and greens covered in vines and overgrown veggies. It looked welcoming, unlike him.

Just before he was about to take a step up onto the small patio of his house, he saw movement from the corner of his eye.

Something had fallen off the cliff nearing his house. Something large and red with deep brown accents.

Elijah stood still in shock. What should he do? Turn away and act as if nothing happened? Go and check if it was a human and see if it's still alive?

Elias's curiosity got the best of him as he made his way towards the cliff, flowers still in his calloused hands.

Once Elijah had reached the cliff he looked for the object that had fallen. He spotted it immediately. Deep brown skin and an astonishingly red coat, it was a human.

Elias made his way over to the body silently wishing they were dead so he could just leave them here and inform the guards later on, so he wouldn't have to deal with it.

Elias stepped nearer to the body, finally getting a good view of the body's face, he sucked in his breath.

Before him stood what Elijah considers the most beautiful person he has ever seen. Long black braids that reached the person's waist, soft pink lips and a beauty mark just below the body's eyes. Elijah noticed quickly that the person didn't seem responsive, his heart sank.

Why did Elias care if this person was alive or not? It was a person he had never even seen before and yet he was hoping that the person would take a breath.

Thankfully luck was on Elias's side today as he saw the person take a small short breath. Without a second thought Elias reached for the person lifting them bridle style and slowly making his way back to his house.

It was going to be a long night.
