Just Normal

The gathering

There was more people then I have ever seen in my life. I couldn't believe this many people could fit on one ship. The more I looked, the more it amazed me. There was people everywhere. On the left side where the Extras, they where pretty organized compared to last year's ceremony, they where all running around and screaming at the top of their lungs. Which was like 2 times louder then a Normal.

On the other side was the Normal's. They all where sitting in their seats quietly waiting to begin. I saw my best friend Andrea and waved to get her attention. Andrea turned around, she had long brown hair and big blue eyes. Her nose was tiny and she was skinny, but not too skinny. Andrea waved back then mouthed to come sit next to her. I walked to her and sat down.

"Kass guess what." She said with excitement in her eyes .

"What did you do now " I say, Andrea is always pulling pranks, it's a mystery that she hasn't gotten caught and thrown to land with they Lytho's by now.

She rolls her eyes with a slight smile and says "I didn't do anything I just wanted to ask you that what your hall your on I'm on hall 4."

I frown, that can't be right hall 4 is for below Normals. I was about to tell her when the ceremony suddenly began. The captain of the ship walked up, he was incredibly old and His hair was pure white and slicked back with shiny hair gel.

"Hello boys and girls, for those of you that don't know me, I am Captain Westward the captain of your ship. Are you exited to finally be 18
Everyone screams "Good. Good. Ok I'm gonna cut my speech short and start with the pairing. Is that ok with you!" More screaming. "Ok let's start in alphabetical order. Aaron come on up." He says with a big smile.

This girl with red hair and tons of freckles on her face walks up.

She kinda looks scared. "Hi" she shyly says with a small wave.

"Hello Aaron this is how it works. That table over there has three trained pairers who know what they are doing, never wrong. They will call out the Extras name and what makes them an Extra. Ok let's get started."

Everyone looks at the judges who are talking to each other going down the name list then they stop at one name look at each other then keep going. This lasts another 5 minutes when they ding a bell and look at the Captain.

He nods, and says "Okay girls and boys they have finished pairing you all up. Judges, who is Aaron's partner."

One takes a microphone and says "Aaron's partner is Mandy. Mandy love stuffed animals and doing hair!"

I really wasn't interested in Extras so I dozed off. I woke up to see Andrea shaking me. She said they where on a girl named Adrianna and almost done. It was almost time for Andrea' s pairing. I was nervous, and I looked over to Andrea , she was on the edge of her seat with a weird mixture of anxious and nervousness on her face. Adrianna finally sat down with her Extra and Andrea squeezed my hand in excitement. She was definitely scared to be paired up with a complete stranger.

"Thank you Adrianna , and that is it for the A's the first B we have is Brittany! Come on up Brittnay. You will be...."

I zone out. What just happened, Andrea was supposed to be next, she was the last A. I turn to Andrea and her eyes are bigger than I have ever seen them and her face is red, her mouth just hangs there. She sees me looking and changes quickly. She changes expressions quickly.

She gives me a pathetic smile and whispers in my ear, "Its gonna be ok it is just a mistake they happen all the time."

I didn't believe it and neither did Andrea.
