"Hey Y/n? I have a question?" Varian asked as he huffed, trying to haul the cart up a hill, he had insisted that he pull the cart all the way to the expo when you had offered to pull it up. So you  were holding your satchel over your shoulder as you glanced over at Varian with a worried look, you doubted that he could pull this thing up any farther.
"Yes Varian?"

"Do you think Cassandra would like me?"

You choked on your own saliva as you stopped moving, turning your head to look at Varian with wide eyes. If your eyes could be bulging out of your skull then they would be right now as you just stood there. Varian stopped pulling the cart as he returned your look with a confused one as to why you had stopped moving. "I'm sorry who?" you said as you gave Varian a second chance, to see if he was joking or he accidentally said the wrong name. He just gave you a confused look

"I asked if you thought Cassandra would like me?" He repeated the question as he started to pull the cart forward, almost running you slightly over as you moved out of the way and you just coughed, almost choking on your own saliva was really annoying as you put your hand on your throat. You were pretty sure Cassandra was very much older than Varian, and she probably wouldn't..like him? I mean from what you knew about her that girl usually had a stick up her as-

No cursing Y/n!

You rolled your eyes at the voice shouting at you in your mind, purposefully ignoring them, you glanced back over at Varian who was looking at you with his puppy dog eyes, he was oblivious to Cassandra's obvious disinterest in him, you could tell that much from when Varian tried to talk to cassandra before they left the first time you met them all. "Y/n?"

"I don't know Varian, but isn't Cassandra like, much older than you?" You responded by giving him a confused look. Maybe Varian just didn't notice that Cassandra was in her early twenties and assumed she was around his age or a year older because Varian looked at you like you were insane or that you had grown two heads.

"What? No she isn't! She's like seventeen!"

"Varian no, she isn't"

"Pshhhh you don't know what you're talking about N/n, now come on! We gotta get to the expo before mid-day!" Varian said ignoring your true statement and walked past you, doing his best to continue pulling the cart up the hill, you let out a frustrated sigh, this boy really was oblivious and he literally didn't take the MULTIPLE hints that Cassandra wasn't into him and that she was most definitely older than him! You pushed those thoughts to the side as you noticed Quirin, Paul, and Patt catching up with the two of you. Paul seemed out of breath while on the other hand Quirin and Patt didn't even look like they were breaking a sweat.

"How the hell do you kids run so fast?" Paul said leaning down and placing his hands on his knees, taking deep breaths as he panted, he looked up at you while sweat was dripping down his face. "And why are you so out of shape? Aren't you supposed to be a royal guard?" You teased back a sly grin spreading across your face. Paul looked absolutely flabbergasted while Patt covered his mouth to try and muffle the small snicker that escaped his mouth.

"I mean...they kinda have a point Paul"

"Hey! Don't agree with them on this!"

You snickered and looked at Patt giving him a cheeky smile, Patt smiled at you and chuckled rolling his eyes. You smiled at him as Quirin shook his head letting out a sigh, you glanced over at your father. "You alright dad?" He looked up at you and nodded, giving you a reassuring smile.

"Yes, I'm quite alright Y/n, don't worry about me."

You raised an eyebrow somewhat suspicious of him but you shrugged it off and nodded, you looked back over and your eyes widened when you noticed that Varian had gotten way ahead of you and you could also see he was getting closer towards the kingdom of Corona, where the science expo was taking place. "Oh shit! Varian must be close to the expo! I gotta find him!" You said you rushed as you quickly darted down the hill, luckily the hill had levelled out and there wasn't a steepness, only the slight trouble of getting downhill. Making sure you didn't trip over any rocks or twigs as you made your way downhill.

"Varian! Wait up for me!" You called out as you tried to catch up with your younger brother, continuing to run down the hill you noticed Varian stop walking and turn his head over to look at you, his eyes widened when he noticed that you were speedily running down the hill and it didn't look like that anytime soon you would be able to slow down. He tensed up as he gulped nervously.

On the other hand, you were struggling very hard to try and stop yourself so you didn't run straight into Varian and knock the two of you over, and also to try and not destroy Varians invention. You let out a nervous chuckle as you did your best to slow down.

"Y/n! Slow down!"

"That's what I'm trying to do, Vari!"

"Then do better!"

You rolled your eyes at his comment, not noticing the rock that was a few inches in front of you, your foot got caught on it and your eyes widened, you let out a shocked gasp as you tumbled over, luckily not bashing your head against another freakin giant rock! You hit the grassy floor groaning in annoyance.

Varian looked at you blinking before he broke into laughter, grinning like an idiot as he walked over and leaned over you, towering over you as you just layed on the ground.

"I told you to slow down, dummy."

"Why you-!"
