"What are we gonna do?!"Maria screamed.
"What do you mean! Those are pit bulls!We might end up in the hospital if we go near them!"Katie yelled back.
"We gotta do something! Violet might get killed!" I said, still watching Violet. Her ball rolled all the way down the hill right into the group of dogs.
"What can we do anyway? Shes getting closer every minute."Maria said.
"How can she not see the dogs?!"Katie screamed.
"We gotta do something!" Maria said, still watching Violet, hoping she would give up on chasing the ball.
"Lets distract them!" I said, looking for something we could use.Then i saw it."Cookies!" I yelled.
"What?" Katie said.
"Cookies!" I repeated."We can use them to distract the dogs.
"Yea! We can throw them the other way, then one of us can run and get Violet."replied Maria.
I quickly grabbed a handful of the peanut butter cookies and me and maria slowly walked down the steps.
"Ok. I'll throw the cookies, you grab Violet, then we'll both run back to my house!"I explained to Maria.
"I'll call the pound while you guys do that."Katie called to us.
I quickly threw the crumbled cookies as far away from us in the direction of the pit bulls.
It worked! They chased after the flying cookies until they landed a few feet away from the group of hungry dogs. Luckily, they left the ball and ran to the cookies instead.
Just then, Violet came running by, but Maria swooped her up in her arms just in time. As we slowly turned around to run back to our house Violet let out a little, high-pitched Squeak. Oh No! If the dogs hear us, we're dead meat, literally!
"We have to run!" I whispered to Maria.
"No we cant! The dogs are faster than us! she whispered back.
"We're just gonna have to take a chance! We have a head start anyway." I decided. "Ok! On the count of three." I whispered, still scared the dogs would hear us.
1....2....3! And we both took of running as fast as we could. But the dogs heard us.......
