As the fire user walked out of school, she found her father with ease. Even with the disguise of a hat and sunglasses he had on. It was barely effective, but it got the job done. Regardless, he was leaning up at the same Audi he brought her to school in.

"Hey, Darling," Steve greeted her.

She smiled at him and his nickname for her. But the nickname came out of seemingly nowhere, so she needs to ask him about that later."Hi."

"How was school?"

"School was school. It wasn't bad, but not good." Myla's mind pulled her back to Flash's taunting.

Her dad opened the passenger door for his daughter, and she got in. "That's understandable."

The car ride was not awkward. Steve navigated the bustling New York streets and had 40's jazz softly coming from the speakers.

"Who is this?" questioned the daughter.

Steve smiled at her. "Hmm? Oh, this is Nat King Cole. The song's name is Smile."

"It's good."

In response, he turned the music up. The jazz legend's voice gently floated around the car.

"Is this the radio?" Myla continued.

"No," her father said. "I learned how to connect my music on my phone to the car."

Myla smiled back at him. "I'm impressed, Dad."

"I'm old, not dead."

The two Rogers chuckled together for a minute before Steve asked, "How are you holding up?"

The teenager hesitated. Could she trust him? "I'm doing fine."

"Light up your face with gladness," came the radio. "Hide every trace of sadness, although a tear may be ever so near,"

"Was that on purpose?" Myla questioned her father

"No. But you should listen to him."

"Well, it's a good thing I have a problem with authority." She knew she sounded a little harsh, and she felt wrong about it, but her problems were not his. "Any word on M-Sashya's whereabouts?"

Steve shook his head. "No, she seems to have gone underground."

"Do you think she's lying low, so she can plan an attack on the Avengers Tower?" The teen suggested.

"Yes, I do. That's why Tony wants you to train as soon as we arrive at the Tower. You're going to be training with another recruit."

Myla let a genuine smile fall across her face. "That'll be interesting. And fun."

They welcomed the silence that followed until they pulled up to the Tower. Natasha and Clint were waiting for them through the doors. "Hey, Rogers," the redhead smirked.

Myla rolled her eyes good-naturedly. "I am not doing this again." Steve and Clint just smiled at their friend's antics.

The archer gestured for the company to follow him. "Tony called a meeting and told Tasha and me to come and get you guys. He's got some wonder kid he wants to recruit to the Avengers, and Tony wants us to meet him."

Myla scoffed, "Isn't one 'wonder kid' enough for him?" She saw a small smile creep up Natasha's face.

"Do you know anything about him?" Steve questioned. His daughter found his switch from Dad to Captain America amusing.

"No," Natasha shook her head. "All we know is he's smart, and Tony is eager to introduce him."

The group made its way to the elevator, then the meeting room. Most of the Avengers sat at a conference table in the same conference room where Myla was first introduced. She still couldn't believe it had been only yesterday when she was standing in this same place.
